Brewery: Robinsons
Name: Trooper(Iron Maiden)
Style: ESB
Origin: England
Bottle: 1 Pt. .9 Oz.
ABV: 4.7%
Appearance: A deep orange-gold
Pours: Pretty easily, I was tempted to let it charge into the glass with its light brigade of 600 bubbles.
Smell: A sweet, yeasty dessert bread made with lemons.
Taste: There’s a cinnamon-orange like sting first and foremost that buzzes in the mouth like a summer cicada. This aspect is mixed in a lightly sweetened tea. Sit back with an old friend or a few and have a chat over some old style dixieland Jazz, or a drag. Something Leon Redbone would play, but done as a cover by a lone electric guitar.
Mouthfeel: Like its Sun&Steel counterpart Trooper is only arguably more viscous than water. That cicada buzz really I should have put here as its really the only thing mouthfeel wise going on with it.
Rating: 7.05 Yep, same as the Sun&Steel. I’d be weighing and measuring, comparing and contrasting until every member of Iron Maiden looked like Eddie(The Head). if I had to choose which one was better. Like the Sake Lager there’s not much to this beer but it plays it all with an enjoyable finesse and that tiny bit of harshness elevates this beer from merely boring to almost a comfort food of sorts.
I just want to relax on the back porch and watch the sunset while sipping on a glass of this.
There is maybe a very faint and very distant iota of its 80s hairband heritage to be tasted.
