Francois Ntsay is a red-ruffed lemur, born in a fishing village in Madagascar. At the time a colony of the Mughal Empire, Francois and his family were little better than slaves, a condition that changed after the French Empire forced the Mughals to abandon the island. Francois still harbors some very strong feelings about his former masters, so he joined the French Imperial Navy.

Now a Maitre de Equipage or Boatswain's Mate with the rank of Premier-maitre or Chief Petty Officer, Francois is a veteran of thirty years in His Catholic Majesty's service, currently serving aboard the warship Temeraire, a lesser third-rate ship of the line carrying sixty electrocarronades. Many members of the crew are lemurs like himself.

Francois is a principal character in my steampunk story A Capital Ship, exclusively seen here on FA. He's wearing his Naval uniform with his visor's head-up display active, controlled by the panel on his forearm.
