Every Christmas, one of the local marinas holds a boat parade in honour of the season, and some folks really get creative with their boats' decor. when I saw this toy soldier go by I was all perky, 'cuz I KNEW I was gonna modify it into the pic you see next to the first. Heh, Newport has no idea the insanity I perpetrated on their innocent Christmas "float"... Photoshop is such a fun program, innit?
Yeah, I'm a Toy Soldier, in the Army of Toy Soldiers, banding together to further the ambitions of one, Dr. Steel, who wants to take over the world with weaponized toys and silly music... for our own good, of course! FOR A UTOPIAN PLAYLAND!

I'm nuckin' futz...

The easiest explanation, coming up:
Dr. Steel is the persona/band of a Los Angeles artist who uses as his gimmick the backstory of being a mad scientist bent on taking over the world with his weaponized toys, music and propaganda. The Toy Soldiers, in real life, are essentially his fan-base. In the "story", they're his brainwashed army helping in his mission to become World Emperor. The whole Utopian Playland thing is part of his Manifesto, where he wants to create what amounts to a world-wide Disneyland-esque society.
That's it, pretty much. If you're at all curios about his music, go to Youtube- a lot of it is on there. Particular songs I'd recommend are: "We Decide", "Build The Robots", "Lament for a Toy Factory", His spoof/cover of the old theme from the original "Land Of The Lost" and "Drop The Bomb". He's comedy, really- and so much fun. To give you an idea of the style of his music: mix together a carnival, Tom Waits, Primus, and Industrial/Steampunk and you pretty much have what his stuff sounds like. It's made of awesome.
The reason I changed the Christmas lights in the photo is because that grinning Toy Soldier is his logo: big eyes, creepy grin and the yellow bandolier.
Hope that makes sense for ya.

Weeeee! I may have another recruit to my name! Ha! That will possibly put me up to about five. *grins* I'm still working on my husband- I caught him singing the lyrics to "We Decide" yesterday- so I might have a shot at getting him in. I do know he's going to be with me during the Disney Invasion as a birthday present to me. *giggles*
And now I look like an idiot. *giggles* I ask that very question on your shout page- I hadn't seen this comment, yet. Derp. I'm still working on my uniform myself. Made some Dr. Steel pins, but I'm deeply wanting patches! Dangit, I'm gonna dig in my fabric collection to see if I have any yellow fabric and then I'm just simply gonna paint the toy soldier in and satin-stitch the edges. I know I have some red twill, so I can make my Nurse's patch, at least. I'm so glad I can just make my own shit when I have to! Heh.
Cool! You might want to go onto the TSU site and let folks know there, too- if you can get access to that stuff, that is. We're all going "blah! We can't get any patches! Bawwwww..." anyway, there may be some new patches and other merch in the works- it just seems the logistics is proving to be hard for them. Dunno why- I'm an idiot, and I could find decent companies to make the shit for cheap... Maybe it's the sheer load of people joining up- there are only so much $$ floating around their fan-base, and I'm not sure how much scratch Dr. Steel himself actually makes from his projects, since it's pretty much him and a couple of other guys...
Well, I don't really have a lot of time to make stuff for a lot of people, y'know? Or I would.. =/ Being a full-time college student and having classes that require a lot of study time just doesn't work well with a crafty kinda fun. x__x Which is why I'm like three months behind on my commissions. That, and I'm lazy. >_>
