This is a wooden ladle that I have recently carved. I made it when I was out in the woods before it was raining and I decided to do some carving instead of the usual wood fuel collecting and processing I do out there. I used a small hatchet that I have modified to be my wood carving hatchet to rough out the shape of the ladle, then I used a series of tools such as a rasp, a spoon knife and sloyd knife to carve this.

The wood I used to make this out of is a species of sassafras Albeit a hardwood, the actual material is quite soft and nicely workable.
