More character art this time. Drawing that violin was a total pain in the ass; hopefully it looks right.
Arianna is a mechanic who was born and raised around Iron City. She was raised by her dad, a lit professor at Iron City University, and lives with her girlfriend, Illyana Lissitzky. Her oath bonds her with a snow leopard, and she can more or less shift at will (she's had the most "practice" with her powers of any main character). Her weapon is a scary looking spear with seven spines; but you'd be just as likely to find her kicking ass with a less than magical softball bat.

Shapeshifting lesbian snow leopards?
They're more likely than you think.
To Ang:
Everyone else can comment on the figure, and I cure won't disagree, but what I'm curious about is facial structure. You've got a crazy interesting thing going on here with the muzzle, and the angle makes it even more interesting. To my eye, it's a really unique take on the halfway-transformed look, and every time I glance back it grows on me a little more... but I can't help but think that her eyes seem maybe a little too close together given the increase of breadth in her nose, there.
Also: More 13R today, by golly, if I have to get someone to prop my eyes open and my hands at the keyboard á la Clockwork Orange to get me to finish the next part.

<3 thank you! I was worried about the violin, good to hear it's convincing. And high five for urban fantasy! I need to read more in that genre; if you've got any good recs I'd be much obliged :3
Iron City is more or less a stand in for the second largest city in NY, kind of like Metropolis is supposed to be Cincinnati (or Chicago? I forget.) I've always liked the DC naming conventions trope; that way you're not miring yourself in geography that is available for perusal on google.

Let's see, I'd definitely suggest Charles DeLint - one of the major forces in urban fantasy (his books featuring Crow girls, Littles, Trickster gods, and fae all hanging out in a modern city)... and he's a professional fiddler as well (I interviewed him once).
For the darker - more fantastical – fiction, China Mieville is a brilliant writer (Perdido Street Station).
And lest we forget, Neil Gaiman (Neverwhere and his American Gods series).
You need to be careful with picking up urban fantasy these days... it appears to be over populated with vampire hunters and horny werewolves :(

I've read Laurell K. Hamilton's (creator of Anita Blake) short stories and those weren't horrible. The novel of hers I read (something about a faerie queen in LA) was put aside after the first chapter. I mean, I enjoy horny werewolves as much as the next guy, but I like a good story much better The market is dominated by the worst kind of romantic pulp imaginable. "Oh... so she's a werecat, daemon-hunter that has copious amounts of nookie with a reformed vampire (aren’t they all?). Yeah, think I’ll pass.”
Oh… if you like steampunk, Whitechapel Gods is a crunchy new novel. Has some flaws, but makes for a fun read.

If the title doesn't lie, it'd be Salty Dog, by Flogging Molly!

And a mighty fine tune it is, too.
