I texted my boyfriend at 1 am because I imagined feathered dinosaurs doing that thing that birds do with their necks. My anatomical inspirations were the tyrannosaurus and the domestic chicken, but green herons were the biggest inspiration. Also parrots because they like to tip back their heads and scream.
I didn't want to get too unrealistic with the exaggerations though, maybe I'll draw an oviraptor/green heron cross like this at some point.
