Yuna sighed as she listened to the teacher, her attention waning as her teacher droned on. Yuna was never one for the lessons from the scholars, but her parents were so insistent on her studies. As her class ended, Yuna got to her locker and pulled out her book for the next class, but she noticed a poster for someone named Kasuki Lu, and her curiosity got the better of her. She took a look and found it was an advertisement to a wrestling match. Looking at the time and date, she decided to take a look. Her life went down a new path and she felt the thrill she yearned for.
As time moved on, her interest in Kasuki Lu and wrestling in general grew, and she soon gained other interests, such as comic books and action figures. However, her interests did not gain approval from her parents, and soon enough, her grades slipped into failure. Furious, her mother scolded her for her terrible grades, but Yuna stood her ground. The two continued to argue about her future, but eventually she had enough. She made one final statement, and her mother was heartbroken. Yuna disowned her mother, and vowed that she would never see her as one. Afterwards, she left to go to the school she despised.
Sadly, her school saw her as a failure, and her peers mocked her for her lack of intelligence. She ignored these remarks for the most part, and tried to move on. However, one extremely rude remark pushed her to the limit. As the two nerdy bullies laughed, Yuna slowly turned around, her face hidden in shadow. With a single motion, Yuna threw the bully upward and punched square in the face. What happened next was something no one expected. The Aisha was sent hurling through seven walls, each wall crumbling to pieces. As the dust settled, Yuna finally realized what she had just done. Eyes wide and full of fear, she looked as crowds of neopets gazed at the wreckage. The boy was unconscious, and severely injured. A scream came out of the other bully soon after, snapping Yuna out of her shock. She had just sent a neopet flying with a single punch, and never knew she had such strength.
Her realization was interrupted when one of Brightvale's guards pinned her to a wall and began restraining her. Yuna listened to the murmurs of her peers, their steely gazes filled with fear and prejudice. Yuna was already an outcast to them for her lack of intellect in a school full of geniuses, but now she was seen as a monster. Tears filled her eyes as the rope was pulled tighter, and she instinctively reacted. Apologizing for where she struck him, Yuna ran from the guard and snapped the ropes off her hooves like paper, her newfound strength being too much to restrain for the thread. With nowhere else to go, Yuna fled from the school and hid herself from the world, hiding in the forest away from the kingdom. She knew she could never go back. Not just to her home, but on her words and actions. Regrets began filling her mind as she remembered what she said to her mother, the pained look she saw from her. Yuna's life back home in Brightvale was officially over, and there was no salvaging it. She curled into a fetal position and cried herself to sleep in the cold harsh forest.
Yuna would only see the occasional neopet passing through the forest for the next four years before she would eventually go into civilization. One particular day, she saw two neopets passing as they discussed about a rare event. The Defenders of Neopia, a group of superheroes dedicated to protecting the world, had an opening available. Yuna felt nervous, given her history and possible criminal record from the incident before. After she quickly prepared, bathing herself with the nearby stream and cleaning her clothes as best she could, she approached Neopia Central with a twinge of hope and trepidation. Already, she noticed neopians curiously looking at her, or scoffing at her attire and nature smell. Opening the doors to the DoN Headquarters, she approached the front desk and informed the secretary of her desire to join. Much to her dismay, she had learned of two others looking to fill the role. One was a blue Zafara with a mysterious aura that she could sense, and the other was a pink Xweetok with goggles and a wrench.
"Oh lord, what's that smell?!" the Xweetok remarked.
Yuna shrugged and replied, "I dunno, I don't smell anything."
The Xweetok took one look at her, a scowl forming on her face, but she held her tongue for now. The three went through their interviews, Yuna's being the most nerve-wracking. Somehow, she had passed the oral interview, and would move on to the situation test with the others. The test was to capture the dummy robbers and display their abilities to the judges. Things seemed to be going smoothly until the Xweetok suddenly approached her, screaming how Yuna had blocked her shot and almost got hurt. Yuna rolled her eyes as she knew this Xweetok was another nerd she was so accustomed to. However, the Xweetok refused to let things go and the two began to argue during the test. She only vaguely remembered the Zafara watching the two argue as she went to catch the robbers. Realizing what this meant, Yuna quickly flew past the floating Zafara, surprising her and was about to catch the robbers when she felt her wings get hit by something. She crashed on the ground and watched as the robbers got away; no one had stopped them. She had failed a test yet again, only this was one she was actually invested in. In a fury, she turned to see that the thing that struck her was the two neopets she competed against. Yuna screamed at the two for their interfering, but they both retaliated with their own rants. As they argued, however, Yuna felt a sudden shock hit her from behind. There was no pain, but she watched as the two neopets before her begin to shrink. Then she saw them change color, if only slightly from their original colors.
Before she could process this, she heard a "thwump" and looked down at the source. Her clothes had fallen off and she was naked. Hiding her body shamefully with her hooves, it wasn't until the Zafara spoke that she realized what happened. They didn't shrink, they regressed to babies. SHE regressed to a baby. She was in complete shock, hearing only bits and pieces of the Zafara mentioning Boochi, the baby Bruce that turned neopets into babies. She couldn't remember much after that, everything was a blur in her mind. The only memory she could remember was the look of Judge Hog in a disapproving manner, rejecting her for her behavior during the situation test. After that, her mind was in complete darkness. She lost her only chance for a future, (both figurately and literally,) and she could never afford a magic paintbrush to change herself back to an adult. With no home to go to, Yuna went to find a box in the alleyways of the city and spent the rest of her night asleep. She was used to the cold uncaring world; the city and the forest made no difference to her. It was just another form of homelessness.
Yuna woke up the next day in a puddle, the smell strong and foul. With disgust, she did her best to wipe off the liquid from her soaked body and grimaced when she realized what happened. She wet herself in her sleep, something she hadn't done since she was still young. The thought of her having an accident made her fearful of her position. Was she actually a baby? Did she lose her skills and abilities? Yuna lifted a trash can and found that she could still lift it with ease. She attempted the same thing with a dumpster and found the same result. She searched her memories and still remembered everything. She was confused as to why she didn't have her toilet-training, but was interrupted by a Zafara. Red, this time, and looking at her with curiosity. Yuna was hesitant to speak to her, but the neopet had a gentle voice, and a sincere smile. The Zafara introduced herself as Felicia, and offered Yuna a place to stay. She didn't know what to do. She had no home, she was a baby, and she feared other neopians. Ultimately, Felicia got through to her, and extended a paw to the confused Uni. Yuna, with little left of her constitution, accepted.
After Felicia cleaned her up and put a diaper on her, (much to her protests,) Yuna arrived at an apartment building and entered with the Zafara. She found herself surprised when she saw the same two neopets she competed with and almost decided against staying there, but the baby Zafara insisted that she stayed, much to the disapproval of the Xweetok. Yuna learned the two names of Zoey, the daughter of Felicia and the baby Zafara that convinced her to stay, and Xandra, the Xweetok who she had no respect for. Yuna simply tuned out the rest of the conversation, not caring about any other details, save for the detail the Xweetok made about this baby issue being permanent. Hearing that made her freak out, crying about not wanting to be a baby forever. She was comforted by Felicia and soon returned to the others, where she heard about Zoey's idea. Strange though it was, it made her invested in these two. Without any hesitation, Yuna agreed to join the two to be their own superhero team.
