As soon as I saw this I thought 'Daytona', but it's a long time since my fanboy days, and I didn't recognise the little spoiler on the back.
At the time this is set I was about seven, and I hadn't heard of the Daytona. My personal fetish car was the Lambo Miura, because I actually saw one when I was a kid. I don't know that I have since. (I don't exactly live in the Italian supercar capital of the world)

Actually the real daytona had no spoiler! And not even the side pipes ;D I made some change to not have copyright troubles in case I propose this work to some publisher!
Also, the Miura was like the italian GT40. So futuristic at the times that their recent versions weren't changwd at all! :)
