Backgrounds are some thin i really struggle with, I just havnt worked out the right balance of how much to put in, how detailed it should be how i should color it. So i did this pic to kind of work out some of that stuff and I still dont really know, im probably overthinking it

All depends on how how much the bg will contribute to the story being told. In addition, the color and focus u put on the bg may determine the mood/ambience of the image as well.
Silhouetting and simple lineart can be useful for bgs as well, if yer not tryna focus too much on it :P
