SPMD honestly missed out on the potential to make Hoopa Unbound the big bad. Imagine it just being this giant hovering off to the side of a cliff face sort of like Duo in Mega Man Battle Network 4 and using its giant hands both to attack and summon hoops to open portals that can just causally throw legendary Pokémon at you. Would have been preferable to yet another generic eldritch abomination.
while i actually did like the final boss of psmd (it tackled the nihilism about the world and the seemingly growing number of bad people/pokemon better than gti, and i really loved the partner's ties to it) i do wish hoopa/hoopa unbound played a role in said story! maybe a red herring contrasting nuzleaf ala dusknoir/grovyle and munna/hydreigon and he could help portal out the hero and partner out of the soul dimension <:O
