I just realized it's been a while since I posted any photography here, so here's a little throwback to some years ago when an Eagle-Owl (Bubo africanus) came to visit our garden. Every morning, it would perch on a low branch (head height) overhanging our lawn and it would stay there until nightfall. I took several opportunities to photograph and film it and was able to get almost within arms reach of it before it would snap at me to tell me that was far enough. This was one of my favourite shots, taken while he/she was preening.
