This is an adze I forged from an old hammer head that I got from some one who was throwing it out. The reason they were throwing it out was because they no longer wanted the sculpture it was welded to, so like the vulture I am when it comes to scrap steel, I took it. It used to be a nice hammer head that you'd find under the "VINTAGE HAMMER" tag on ebay or something, but the poor thing was welded to a heap of old scrap like a railroad spike, golf club heads, socket heads, old horse shoes and etc.
I broke it free from the weak tack welds that held the modge podge together and felt some sort of odd sympathy for it. The sculpture was rather an ugly attempt to make something cute.
I saw it unfit for restoration, so I went ahead and modified the hell out of it.
FAILED PROJECT
The use of this adze will be to carve out the insides of wooden bowls and similar items.
