Triple Threat
——————————————————
Max woke up. He immediately noticed the statue in his room. It occurred to him that he didn't think of how Angela became stone and back to normal. He hopped off his bed and got a closer look at the statue. It then started cracking. Max immediately started panicking. "Oh my gosh! I broke my gargoyle!" He grabbed the statues face with one hand and reached out for a tape dispenser with the other one. He wrapped tape around the stone head and put tape on the arms and stomach. Max noticed that hair was coming out of the cracking head and the statue started to move. He then remembered what Dr Philip said about gargoyles. He started to relax and let the cracking statue do its thing.
Angela stretched and yawned while the stone exploded off her! Max thought it looked so awesome! When the crumbs of stone skin exploded off of her, she noticed the tape with pebbles that she was wearing. She noticed Max giving a nervous smile. She smiled. "Probably should've told you how I wake up." She said as she was taking off the tape.
"Yeah, but I saw that on a tv show about gargoyles once. And that would explain the little rocks I found on my floor yesterday." Max gestured to the floor that had cracked pieces of cement.
Drake started to wake up. When he looked at the time on Max's alarm clock, he started to worry for some reason. "Aren't chya gonna be late for school?"
"Oh, don't worry, it's Saturday. That means no school and more My Little Pony." The dragon and gargoyle both smiled. "But first," He patted his flat stomach. "Breakfast." He walked out of the room with the two following
Max went into the the kitchen, poured himself a bowl of cereal, turned on the tv for Saturday morning cartoons, then sat at the table.
Drake didn't eat breakfast what with his slow digestion and the fact he ate dinner last night while Angela grabbed an apple and a banana from a fruit bowl.
Drake and Angela walked in the room. The two noticed what was on the tv. (AN~ Curious George or the Angry Birds cartoon. You decide what ever Saturday morning cartoons you like) "There are more good cartoons than My Little Pony." Max said. They wanted to sit on the couch but Iris was still snoozing in the sofa bed. So they sat on the smaller chairs in the room.

[Dream sequence]
Iris stood in front of a mirror. As a unicorn stereotype, she was admiring her own beauty. When she heard a door open, she snapped out of her trance and turned her head to the sound to see nothing. She turned her head back to the mirror, only to see not what she's use to seeing. She saw a young girl with pale skin, light blue eyes, and white hair with rainbow ends! She was in an even bigger trance. She moved her head and so did the girl in the mirror, she winked and the girl did too. The reflection had the same face expression as she did. She moved her hoof to her muzzle as the girl mimicked her. But when she touched her head, she felt a hand. She took her eyes off the mirror to see that her hoof, was a hand. She looked at her own body to see that she was the girl in the mirror. She heard foot steps, and saw Max walking towards her. Max took her hand and smiled. Iris for some reason was nervous. The dream was so over whelming that she woke up.
She panted and was thinking about the dream. "Finally awake, huh?" Drake said. "Apparently, there are more cartoons that are addictive." He gestured to the tv.
She turned her head to see Max at the table. "I let ya sleep in since I figured that you already knew the laws of Saturday."
"Yes, I do. I've had since the very first school day in history." She stood up and used her magic to change the magic bed back to a couch. "And thank you for letting me sleep in. I've had the strangest dream that I've had in a century."
Angela was curious. "What was it about?"
"Oh, I was admiring my beauty in a mirror,"
"Sounds normal." Drake said.
"Then suddenly, I became a human girl. And I think Max found me 'attractive."
Max became interested and wanted to say something. "That... that does sound strange."
Drake added in. "I had a dream where my scales turned into feathers." Max and Iris wanted to laugh.
As did Angela. "My dream was that I turned into soap instead of stone." They started laughing.
Max told his dream. "And my was my mom was dating one of my teachers." Everyone laughed. They were all unaware that Carrie was in the kitchen making her breakfast. Max finished his cereal and sat on the couch next to Iris.
Carrie walked in and sat on the small couch.
Sammi walked in the room and sat on the couch.
Ten minutes later, Iris felt an amount of discomfort and she thought of Storm Heart. She was suspicious about the feeling. She closed her eyes to see,....... Her family of her parents, her brother, and infant sister on their knees, tied up! And a man's hand who's color of it was paler then her family's, holding a knife! Iris opened her eyes and gasped, understanding what was going on! "Sammi! Your friend, Storm Heart and her family, are in danger!"
Sammi was confused, but Carrie understood from what happened two days ago when Frank came to visit. "Sammi! Iris can sense when someone is in danger!"
Sammi realized what was happening. "Wha- What're we gonns do?!"
Drake stood up with a determined look on his face! "We are going to save them! That's what we're gonna do!"
Iris turned to Sammi, quickly understanding the circumstance! "Sammi! You have Officer Jones' number, right!?"
Sammi struggled to talk, but successfully spoke. "Y- Yeah! I do!" She pulled out the little peace of paper she got yesterday from her pocket!
Angela got in on the drama. "Then you call that number! And we save your friend and her family!"
With only a second of hesitation, she ran to nearby house phone and dialed the number! She had to wait a few seconds for him to answer! It was answered. "Officer Jones? This is Sammi! No! It's Storm Heart! I dunno what it is, but her and her family is in danger! The unicorn! I know it sounds imaginary, but it's true! I'll explain when you get there! Okay!"
Iris understood what Sammi was thinking! "Drake! You carry Sammi and you and Angela follow me there!"
Drake saluted for fun. "Yes ma'am!" He scooped up the eight year old and ran outside!
With every mythical creature outside, Max mounted Iris and looked at his sister! "Sam? Buckle your metaphorical seatbelt and enjoy the ride!"
The unicorn ran off and the dragon and gargoyle followed! Much to Sammi's terror she was feeling like she was on a rollercoaster.
-
A few seconds ago, Officer Jones was in the kitchen making his breakfast. His phone that rang. He pulled it from his pocket and answered it. "Hello? Oh, hey Sam! Did you call just to practice? What about her? What!? How do you know?! What!?" He snapped out of the confusion for he realized a kid's life was in danger! "Alright! I'll be there!" He hung up. "Sheri!" He yelled and made his wife run into the kitchen. "I have know idea if this is a real emergency, but a kid's life is in danger!" Before Sherri could ask, Phil ran to their room while answering. "It's one o' Sammy's friends! She called and said something about a unicorn knowing what was goin' on! I don't know if it's a kidish prank, but I'm not taking any chances!" He ran to the bedroom and ran out of that room with the top of his police uniform with an incredible amount of determination in him! He ran outside with his wife following! He was in his car with his wife sitting in the passenger seat and a determined look on his face! "I am not letting another one die!" He said and drove off!
-
Two minutes later, a police car came to a house, Officer Jones and his wife came out of the car. Phil noticed something on the street. "What is that?"
Sheri realized what it was. "Back up!"
The unicorn stopped in her tracks while the two winger creatures gently landed on the ground. While Sammi was gently placed on the ground.
Phil noticed that it was a unicorn, a dragon, and a gargoyle. "You didn't say anything about a dragon and a," He looked at Angela. "Harpy?"
"I'm a gargoyle." Angela said in annoyance.
When Max hopped off Iris, he noticed the cop that patrols his school was here. "Officer Jones?" The two officers responded to Max. Max put two and two together and realized who the other officer was. He walked to the cops. "Do you know what's going on in there?"
They both disagreed and Iris walked to them. "Storm Heart and her family are tied up and an intruder with a knife is in there! He intends on harming them in a hate crime!!"
Drake and Angela responded by looking determined. "Leave it to use!" Drake said. Then they flew to the other side of the house. They noticed that a window of the basement was smashed and crawled into it.
When they snuck up the stairway, Drake was remembering the techniques he learned from fighting with Angela. "Look alive!" He said. They were in a hallway and in a door frame they peeked their heads in, they saw Storm Hearts family tied up in the front room and a man with a large knife holding it to her brothers forehead! Angela reacted by reaching into her satchel and threw a small ball in the room. With a flash and pop, the ball exploded into thick smoke!
The intruder coughed and wondered around. Hissing and growling sounds were in the mist! The ropes of the five Native Americans were suddenly cut, they saw a mysterious silhouette of a woman and heard a voice. "Come with me!"
The brother while holding the bloody cut on his forehead was skeptical of the strange feminine voice. (Booboo Stewart's voice) "wh- Who's there!?"
The criminal heard that voice, turned around, and pulled out a gun! Only to have his arm grabbed by a scale hand as it went off not in the direction he wanted!
"It's okay! You can trust me. Just follow me if you want to live!" They all followed the mystery woman while the mother of the family was holding the toddler's hand!
They exited the smoke filled house.
The father felt relieved. (Wes Studi's voice) "Oh thank you so much! Thank you for saving-" He was interrupted by the sight of a mysterious creature with wings. And his wife, teenage son, and infant daughter were speechless by the sight of he. But Storm Heart smiled. "You must be a friend of Iris."
Angela smiled and nodded. A loud roar was heard from inside the house, followed by a scream! The intruder ran out the front door, only to be tackled by other officers that showed up. "There... There's a monster in there!!!"
"Don't worry," Phil said. "He's outside now." The intruder was being handcuffed and escorted to a police car.
Iris walked to Storm Hearts family who where petrified from the experience. They were all amazed by the sight of a unicorn. Her horn glowed and they all calmed down. Iris noticed the teenage boy holding his forehead. She used her magic to move his hand to reveal a cut on his forehead. She leaned in closer and kissed it, much to the boys surprise. "Woah, hey now!" His forehead glowed, he wiped it to see no blood on his hand. "Okay..."
Storm Heart blurted out. "Mom, dad, Chayton? This is my friend, I told you about, Iris."
Her father (Wes Studi's voice) added in. "You might have left out a few details."
Phil and Sheri walked to Storm Hearts family, Sheri pulled out a note pad and a pen. "So, what happened?"
Storm Hearts mother (Irene Bedard's voice) answered. "He broke into our house and tied us up, he said that savages like us needed to be killed!"
"He even tried to scalp me!" Chayton said.
Max wanted to make a joke and thought of it hard. "Sounds like somebody's been watching too many cowboy movies." Half of everyone laughed, and Max became proud of the joke that made everyone laugh.
"Okay." Sheri said. "Breaking and entering, hate crime charges, attempted familycide, and possibly distortion of reality from movies."
Drake leaned to Angela. "Alright, we just saved their lives, first impression is important." He walked to them, they were kinda intimidated. He inhaled deeply. "Hey man. I'm Drake, this is Angela, so yeah, we just saved your family. That alright?" Angela looked confused. He looked to her. "It's a modern family! ya gotta act cool and calm."
Storm Heart's father spoke up. "Yes, it is" He bowed his head and said, "Ahéhee."
Max looked confused. "Gesundheit."
Iris giggled. "No, Max! 'Ahéhee.' It means 'thank you' in an old language."
Storm Heart's mother walked in the house.
Max realized the the gesture. "Oh! You're welcome, mister. . ." He didn't know what his name was.
Iris smiled and said aloud. "His name is Sakima."
"I thank you for saving my family." His wife ran outside holding a basket. "As thanks, please accept these."
She opened the basket and Sakima grabbed Drake's wrist, pulled out a bracelet out of the basket, and tied it around his wrist. He made a fist and brought it up for a closer look to see that the bracket had a leather strap, fragments of a deer antler, alligator teeth, and a piece of obsidan. "This thing fire proof?"
He walked to Angela and crowned her with a headband with three different looking feathers hanging from it around her hair, and it resembled the headband Storm Heart was wearing.
He walked to Max, and gave him a large knife with a leather wrapped handle and a colourful sheath. "This seems kinda dangerous for someone my age to have, then again, I have a unicorn who can kill you if you tick her off, a gargoyle with a bag full of weapons, and a dragon that can breath fire."
He walked to Iris and placed a hair clip with a feather hanging from it in her hair. "I don't really need accessories to express my beauty, but thank you."
And finally, he kneeled down in front of Sammi to her eye level. "Young Samantha, you have proven yourself a great friend to my daughter."
Sammi felt proud and added in her own sentence. "Just like John Smith?"
He looked a little nervous. "Uh, yeah." He pulled out a necklace from the basket and put it around Sammi's neck. The necklace had bits of real turquoise, a small feather, and a small dream catcher. "Our nations and cultures are small in our own land, but my ancestors before me did their best to keep the ancient way alive. It is allies like you who give our people hope. May all of you be great allies to our family, and to others."
The toddler walked to Angela, giggled and hugged her. A surprised Angela patted the most young girls head. The little girl did the same to Drake and he too patted her head.
Iris still sensed that the whole family was still emotionally affected by what just happened. She walked to them. "I suggest you visit your Unci and Gaka today to recover if want happened."
The family agreed.
Max mounted Iris, Drake picked up Sammi, and Angela admired her new head peace and smiled to the family while they were getting into the car. They all waved goodbye to the car that drove away. Max leaned his head forward to tell Iris something. "Like I said, you're the best friend I've ever had, and other people agree."
Iris blushed and smiled. When they came home, Carrie was worried and curious about what happened. "What happened?! Is Storm Heart and her family okay!?"
Sammi answered. "They're fine, a creep tried to hurt them, but Iris, Drake, and Angela helped."
"And they're visit their. . unchi and gaga, what ever that means." Max said.
Carrie sighed. "That's a relief, Storm Heart is a kind student and one of your greatest friends. I wouldn't want anything to happen to her."
Max spoke up. "Her family even gave us these." Max pulled out the knife from his pocket.
Iris added in. "Mine is unnecessary, but it's nice." She gestured her hoof to the feather hair clip in her mane.
At first, Carrie was concerned by the knife her son had, but she noticed that Drake had a bracelet, and Angela had a headband that resembled the one Storm Heart always wears at school. And finally she noticed Sammi wearing a necklace with real turquoise. She realized what the accessories were for. "I read that some Native American cultures give people accessories and weapons like bracelets and necklaces as a sign of respect, and as a sign that they accept you in their tribe. Or in modern times, their family."
They all admired their accessories, and felt proud of their heroism.
"We all have times of heroism." Angela said. "And it is tradition to get
Max walked downstairs to his room and the mythical creatures, as well as the cat, followed him to watch My Little Pony.
When an episode ended, Max was thinking about something. He turned to Angela. " You said that we all have heroic moments. What did you meant by that?
"Well," Angela continued. "Every mythical creature has a purpose in excellence. A gargoyle's is to protect it's home and the humans who inhabit them. I did fight off invaders of the castle. But I did fight along side in several wars and Drake fought along side with me. And there was the time I saved many humans and avenged humans who have been slaughtered, all the while having issues with my mother. But I'll tell you what happened when I'm ready."
"I got some stories, too." Drake said as he caught Max's attention. "I did save more than a hundred humans from fires. But it wasn't just me. My whole bloodline are hero's. Know, you're thinking that dragons aren't heroes in fairytales. But not my species. Just like gargoyles, we are dedicated to protect! My grandfather was a great example. In the kingdom he loved near, dragons were hated, but he did become friends with the princess. Years later, the princess was kidnapped by another dragon. He amazingly convinced the king to save him. He went forth to save the princess, but I it turns out, that dragon was forced to kidnap the princess. The man who forced that dragon to commit the crime was captured. And just a few minutes after that, he scared away an invasion. After that, he was dubbed a knight. Ever since then, dragons in that kingdom were praised. but there were people who visited the kingdom only to kill dragons, until Iris and her parents changed. In fact, Iris' mother healed my grandfather when he was stabbed. And Iris herself healed my father when he was stabbed, too. All dragons in the kingdom are safe. And in modern time, I wanted to be a hero just like my grandfather, but people were still intimidated by me. With her magic, I became the hero I wanted to be. I saved more than fifty children from fires and they accepted me as a hero. In fact, it was her magic that helped my grandparents accept the fact of who my mother was."
Even Iris told her story. "I have a lot of stories about being a hero, and saving lives. One reason I enjoy being a unicorn, is knowing that I make people's lives better." Every one smiled.
"I would say that all the mice I got rid of might have diseases." Penny said.
"Well," Max tried to thinking something. "I did try to get rid of a big spider in the garage when I was six." He shivered. "Didn't think there'd be dozens of more!"
---
Two hours later, Max announced that he wanted to go the library. Iris, Drake, and Angela insisted on coming along. He was convinced. Once outside, Iris prepared herself to be mounted and Drake and Angela spread out their wings. "It's not that far, I normally walk there, it's good exercise. But I do get sweaty by the time I get home, so.. I guess on the way home......" He didn't have to finish his sentence. Iris smiled.
Ten minutes of walking later, they made it at the library. The four noticed a limo drive into the parking lot. It was who came out of the limo that surprised them. All their high school friend's. They walked to them. Max was surprised to see his friends. "What are you guys doing here?"
McKenzie answered. "We all got a text from Iris, we were all invited to this library. It's confusing, since she probably doesn't have a phone."
Max turned to a smug Iris. Max smiled and accepted the fact that Iris is making his life non-lonely.
Once in the library, everyone separated to look around to see what books there are.
María leaned in near Bobby's head. "Bobby? Since you're taking Spanish, do you mind if I help learn some words?"
Bobby looked stressed with his freckled face, then shook it off. "Um, sure."
María stood up straight. "All right! Empecemos. First lesson, that means 'let us begin. I would've said vamonos, but that's way too cliche." They walked to the Spanish books.
The young children in the building immediately noticed the unicorn. Iris knew what to do. She trotted to the kids area and sat on a carpet. Some of the children walked to her and were all Interested. Iris smiled. "You may all sit down and I can tell you who I am and what I can do."
Amy and Nate were watching what Iris was experiencing.
"It's really cute how kids react to stuff like unicorns." Amy said.
Nate agreed. "Yeah. The innocence of children." He looked to his left. "Ooh look! A Batman encyclopedia." He said with excitement as he walked to a shelf.
Amy rolled her eyes about her brother.
Trent pulled out his own books of interest from the shelves and walked to McKenzie. He sat in the comfy chair next to the one that she was sitting on. She noticed a book on the side table. "OMG, you like gems?"
"Wha? Oh, uh, yeah! a little bit." He said while looking embarrassed. "I just know the essentials. Such as that there are several gemstones more rare and valuable than diamonds. Like Emerald and Alexandrite." He put his face in a book about motorcycles.
McKenzie was impressed. "And that Quartz crystals are used in clocks?"
Trent put the motorcycle book down. "And that Tiger's Eye has enough iron for a magnet to attract it?"
"And that slivers of Aquamarine were used as lenses in eyeglasses when they were first used?"
"And that fresh water Pearls are very different from salt water Pearls!?"
"And that Sapphires are scientifically Rubies without the element chromium?!"
"And that the only things that can scratch a Ruby is a Diamond and another Ruby!?"
"And that a fortune teller's crystal ball is Clear Quartz?!"
"And that Alexandrite is blue in sunlight but red in the light from a lightbulb or flashlight!?"
"And that Peridot . . ." McKenzie hesitated.
They both leaned to each other and finished the sentence in sync together. "Is one of the few gemstones that's only one color!!!"
They were both amazed. "Wow Blondie. You're a fan of that fashion junk, I'm a fan of wrestling. Your bad reputation was from being the mean girl, mine was the police getting way too nosey with me. Who knew we had somthing in common? We're using this group to clear our reputations, and we both like gems."
McKenzie smiled but still was annoyed by being called Blondie. "And as promised," She pulled out a valuable looking necklace three small gemstones from her shirt.
Trent got a closer look at it. "Nice sapphire, the one on the left is a beryl, and the one on the right is a garnet."
McKenzie was impressed by his knowledge. "And if this isn't enough, I let those weirdos ride in my limo. And one last thing, I'm planning on buying them all lunch. I tried to invite my two friends, but they didn't want to come."
Trent then thought of something. "So, do you think you'll ever be friends with these guys?"
She gave her answer. "You kidding? The short one's wearing overalls!" She then and added another conversation. "So, you like motorcycles, too?"
Trent reacted by not feeling embarrassed. "Oh. Yeah. I do know how to ride them and I have a license. But my parents said they'll get me one when I go a year without getting arrested. I'm counting in at least three months."
They both started reading.
---
In the library, everyone did different things.
Maria and Bobby sat at a table, and she was teaching him Spanish words with Spanish dictionary's. She was giggling quietly from Bobby pronouncing words in funny ways.
Nate was reading books about comic book heroes and books of newspaper comics, like Garfield. What with a unicorn friend in his life now, he decided to start reading Phoebe and her Unicorn.
Amy read books about teenage lives.
Drake and Angela were entertaining themselves by reading books about dragons, and even some Native American books.
McKenzie was reading books about gems.
Max searched through the DVD's and mythical creature books, as well as other subjects.
-
Thirty minutes later, Max was just about done. He was about to tell all his friends that he was ready to check out his own stuff and all the other things that his friends wanted to check out since he was the only one of the group with a library card. He then noticed a man come in the library, he looked around suspiciously, he walked to McKenzie. Max felt suspension. He saw the man pulled out a gun. Max gasped lightly.
McKenzie was still reading, she looked shocked at the magazine she was reading. "Seriously? That's trending?" She then looked up to see, a man pointing a gun directly at her! She gasped and felt fear! Then, like she said the other day, she proved that she was not a damsel in distress by kicking the robber in the shin! And smacking the gun out of his hand!
The thief recovered from the self defense attack then pulled out a knife and putting it up to McKenzie's throat! Even with his leg pressing against hers to not have her attack him more!
"You're either gonna give me that necklace, or your life!!!" He said in such an angry tone!
Iris felt a disturbance, and noticed McKenzie and the stranger! Her horn glowed. The knife that the man was holding suddenly felt hot! He threw it to the floor and screamed! but his leg and arm were still there from a few seconds ago! His hand was then on McKenzie's neck!
He looked angry, and was visibly determined to harm her! Trent sneaked up behind the man and pulled him to the floor! McKenzie was amazed by Trent's courage! The man pinned him to the ground and started choking him, but he was then hit by a sparkle ball courtesy of Iris!
The man quickly stood up and charged at McKenzie to attack her! But Angela quickly tackled him!
While the man was getting of the floor the third time, Nate grabbed a chair to try to be a hero and tried to walk to the fight!
But Drake stopped him and a random samaritan who wanted to help by extending his muscular scaley arm to block them. "Let 'er have some fun." He said with a reptilian smile.
Iris trotted to McKenzie and kissed the small cut on her neck and it healed.
The man tried to punch Angela, but she quickly grabbed a hardcover book on display and held it in front of her face, blocking the blow!
She put it down and quickly dodged another punch! He tried to punch her again, but she blocked it with her arm! He tried to punch her several times, bit she either dodged or blocked them! He even tried to kick her in the stomach, but she blocked it with her tail! She even grabbed his fist with the small finger like appendages on her wing!
Most of everyone in the library were to scared to interfere, while some filmed it on their phones!
Angela too was throwing several punches and they actually hit him! With her palm, she smacked his chin! His face cringed in pain!
When she dodged a punch, she chopped at his bicep and his hand looked like it relaxed!
She then with two curved fingers struck him at the bottom of the shoulder in the other arm and that arm went limp!
He tried to tackle her like a high school wrestler, but she grabbed his hips, lifted him in the air, twirled him around, and tossed him! Trent was really impressed by that move.
He quickly got up and started charging at her! When he was close enough, she quickly moved her head, making her long hair whip his face. While he was distracted, she grabbed his leg with her bird like foot, making him loose his balance! He tried to regain it, but with a swipe of her tail, he fell to the floor!
Now on the floor, Angela placed her foot on his chest, to keep him down.
The librarian walked up to Angela. "Thank you, miss statue woman." She said.
Angela felt annoyed. "Close enough."
During the minor commotion, McKenzie walked to Trent. He smiled as if nothing happened. Out of nowhere, she leaped forward and hugged him tightly. As her necklace touched his chest, his eyes widened and he had a warm feeling.
McKenzie realized what she was doing and quickly let go. "Uh, I mean, thanks, leather boy." She looked away and pretended like it didn't happen.
Trent stood there, thinking about how comforting that necklace felt on his chest.
Max walked to the two. "So, um, I'm done looking at things."
Trent snapped out of the trance. "O-okay, I think we all are." All the friends agreed. Everyone went to the counter with the self checkout. Sure, Nate and Amy already had library cards, but the others didn't. So Max, Amy, and Nate checked out the items for their friends.
Once every item was checked out with Max's card, he made an announcement. "So when you're down with your books, give them to me so I can return them."
Once outside, McKenzie let part of her plan in motion. "How about we all have lunch together?"
Everyone like the idea. "How about at Arctic Circle?" max suggested. Everyone like that idea too. He was about to mount Iris, but he heard McKenzie's voice.
"Hey Max, since it was your idea, why don't you ride with us?"
Max was surprised by that. He accepted and went into the car.
Iris galloped and Drake and Angela flew along side the limo.
McKenzie looked at Max. "So what do you recommend? What ever it is, I'll pay for it." Everyone was shocked by her words.
Max took five seconds too answer. "Well, since a minute ago, I've been craving Arctic Circle." Everyone agreed under their breaths, obviously agreeing.
McKenzie smiled and gave a thumbs uncomfortably, thinking about having simple fast food.
Two minutes later, they were a parking lot of that said restaurant.
McKenzie was about to leave the car, then she got another idea that could prove that they can trust her. She walked to the drivers seat car and talked to the driver. "Alfred? Why don't you... eat with us?"
He smiled. He hasn't seen McKenzie this kind since she was a little girl and accepted.
Inside, McKenzie was so amazed at how easy it was to pay for the lunch. After about three minutes of waiting, their lunches were ready.
They all sat at two different tables. Max was sitting next to a little wall, iris struggled to get in, but she successfully dat next to Max.
Drake and Angela sat in tall chairs that had perfect room for their tails and wings.
McKenzie, several times, looked at Trent. She thought about what he did. He pretty much risked his life to save hers!
Trent realized what she was thinking from her expressions. "You know, you have the unicorn to thank for saving you."
Iris spoke up. "Yes, I did, I made him drop the knife. I can distract criminals and-" She turned her head to the window. "Wait, hold on." Her horn glowed. They all looked to where Iris was a looking to see at the window, outside, a man near a parked car felt dizzy. They all noticed. The man twirled around and the car next to him sped off, they realized the man was holding a gun, and he was then tackled a by cop. "And have a little fun to prevent tragic events from happening."
Max realized what just happened. "You just can't stop saving people, can you?" Iris smiled. He turned to everyone. "Other than saving me from a car chase, you from that creep, and that random guy in that car from being robbed, early today, she helped a whole family from being killed in a hate crime!"
Everyone was amazed. Iris smiled. "I have saved many lives in my lifetime. Before I met all of you, I helped over a dozen people escape slavery, helped people during a plague and the great depression."
Max spoke up. "At first, I was a little annoyed that she keeps showing off, but now, she's the best show off in the world." Iris smiled again.
"I am a great friend to many. Even my mother was a great friend, she saved a friend of her's from being decapitated just because people thought she was ugly."
"Well that's kinda harsh." Nate said.
"Well she does have green skin, snakes for hair, and a snakes tail instead of legs. A way she helped her, introduce her to a cute blind boy."
Max smiled as he understood who that girl was.
After about seven minutes of bonding, they were done with lunch, and they all went outside. Max mounted Iris and waved goodbye to the limo group, and trotted away, with Angela and Drake following.
-
After everyone was dropped off home, Trent was the last to be dropped off.
McKenzie rolled down the window. "Hey, Thompson?" She caught Trent's attention. "I . . . just wanna say . . . thank, for. . . you know, pretty much, basically, saving my life."
Trent hesitated. "You're, welcome." He walked to the house.
The limousine drove off, leaving McKenzie alone in the back side of the vehicle thinking of what three new friends did for her.
Alfred saw her facial expressions in the mirror. "Miss McKenzie?" He said with his British voice. "From what I have known for a while, one friendly gesture is enough to change someone for the better."
McKenzie sat there, thinking of what happened today and what Alfred said.
-
At home the My Little Pony watching gang was watching what the name lives by. They were explaining to Penny of what happened. "Looks like I missed out on a little suspense."
"Yep." Iris said. "Many days in our lives have drama."
"Like that time me and Drake fought that bearded man with that magic lamp." Angela said.
Max just realized something. "I just realized something. The difference between a unicorn and a genie, unicorns have no limit on wishes."
Iris responded. "They're not really wishes. They're more like friendly favors."
"Can those 'friendly favors' make me into a prince?"
Iris grinned. "Maybe." Her horn glowed and a crown appeared on top of Max's head. Everyone laughed and Max smiled.
Three episodes later, Max realized another thing. "I just realized that now I have three friends to play games with. What do ya say?" He leaned forward to turn on his Nintendo Switch and the three agreed. "You guys know how to play Mario kart?"
The dragon and gargoyle were both confused, the unicorns horn glowed, Drake and Angela eyes widened and they nodded. Despite having limited controllers, they all had fun. That was due to the fact that with Iris' magic, Max and Drake were using the two joy-cons, while Angela was using a magic transparent controller and Iris was playing with her mind, and Max finally knew what it felt like to play with the four player spilt screen. While Penny was spectating.

That night, McKenzie was talking to her father. (Nathan Fillion's voice) "What!? You were almost robbed?! First off, I'm glad you're alright, second, why were you wearing your grandmother's necklace at a library?!"
"Daddy, chill! I was wearing so the first time with my new friends would be special like those parties I wear it at! And three of those friends saved me!"
He was surprised. "How did they save you?"
"Well, it's complicated. Two of them used violence, and another. . . you know the cartoons Nikki likes to watch?"
---
The next morning, Angela and Drake were once again confused by Max staying home. "Is it Saturday again?"
"Actually, it's Sunday. And just like yesterday, there's no school."
They went upstairs. Later, Carrie walked in the room and talked to the mythical creatures. "I don't if you know about Sunday, but instead of school, we go to church."
Angela looked excited while Drake looked nervous. "I dunno if I can go. You can just imagine how people who are religious can react to a guy with horns. And what with two outta three of us being naked."
Angela turned to him. "Drake, going to church is one of the best things that can happen to you! I have horns too. But I go to church all the time. Iris has a horn, and she goes to church a lot. And with her magic, no one will be scared of us."
"And about being naked," Iris said as her horn glowed. There were then sparkles around the bodies of all three of the mythical creatures. Suddenly, with a flash, it looked like Drake was wearing black pants, a button up short with the sleeves tolled up, and a green tie. Angela looked like she was wearing a gray skirt and black shirt. And Iris looked like she was wearing a light blue Sunday dress with rainbow floral print on it.
"Ok." Drake said. "I'm convinced."
Carrie was surprised. "Who knew Angela was a fan of church."
Max added in. "Well she is a gargoyle."
Angela also wanted to invite Penny. "What about you, Penny?"
"Sorry, but it's ancient tradition for a cat to stay home and be lazy on sunday." Angela nodded and turned away, but she had a face expression that cleary said 'soon.'
-
At church, everyone was surprised at the presence of a unicorn, a gargoyle, and a dragon. Drake was surprised that no one was scared of him, he knew it was because of Iris' magic.
Sitting on one of the pews (benches in a church), was Carrie's co-worker, Heather. She noticed the unicorn.
Sitting next to her, was a young man with black rimmed glasses, brown shaggy like hair, slightly red cheeks, and light facial hair. He looked like he was trying to calm down at the time. Just like the woman sitting next to him, he noticed that everyone in the room were looking at something. He turned around to see what it was about. His eyes widened. A kid he knew with a unicorn! He also was shocked from the sight of a dragon and a gray creature that he recognized from an old cartoon as a gargoyle. His younger sister was surprised, too.
The young man spoke at Heather. (Zac Effron's voice) "Mom? Is that Max!?"
His mother smiled. "Yep. I didn't tell you because I thought it would be more believable to show you what friend Max made."
A girl on that same pew turned around and spoke with shock. (Landry Benders voice) "You were serious about a unicorn!?"
Her son looked offended. "You told Sophie but not me?!"
"Your brain probably couldn't handle it!" Heather gave her defense.
Max and his family walked to the pew right behind them. Max saw Jason. "He-hey, Jason! You surprised?"
Jason spoke. "Very! I don't know if I should slap myself, or call myself crazy."
"Don't slap yourself." Max said. "It won't do anything but make your face hurt."
Carrie spoke up. "So, Heather. You met Iris last week, now, meet his other friends." She gestured to Drake and Angela.
Heather was amazed at her co-worker. "You just keep spoiling your son, do you?"
Max looked at the pew behind Jason's family. "Oh, I didn't think of how you three would sit!"
Jason looked to his left. "You could. . . sit in the stage room." He pointed to the overflow hole that connects the cultural hall.
"Great idea." Max said. The four walked out of the sacrament room to get to the cultural hall with the stage. Jason followed. Max turned around to see Jason.
"Thought I could. . . hang out with a friend." Jason said nervously.
Max immediately accepted that fact.
Once they were near some metal chairs, Max thought he could introduce him to his three recent friends. "So, this is Jason McLean. He's been a friend of mine for, pretty much most of my life. Both of our mothers were friends growing up."
"Jason?" Max said. "This is Iris," He pointed at Iris. "Drake," He looked at Drake. "and Angela." He pointed at Angela.
Jason looked nervous. "Um. . . hi." He said while giving a nervous wave with his free hand not holding his tablet.
Drake easily understood what he was feeling. "You're nervous, I can tell. It's kinda understandable that a human in the twenty first century to be nervous around a friendly dragon."
Angela, being six inches taller than Jason, lowered her head to look into his eye level "You have aspergers." She said.
Jason looked amazed. "How . . . can you tell?"
Angela gave her answer. 'You're facial expressions. You're teeth are slightly clenched from being nervous and you're not looking at me directly in the eyes."
Jason got a really good look at Angela and realized what she was. "You're a . . . Gargoyle. Right?"
Angela looked very satisfied. "Yes I am. Finally!"
"So," Max started. "A lot of things have happened. I got a unicorn friend, two winged body guards, a talking cat, and you know McKenzie Williams and Trent Thompson?"
"The bratty rich girl and the guy who I heard got arrested?"
"Yep, they're my friends now."
Jason was amazed. "I've missed so much. I should've became a super senior instead of graduate! Other than the talking cat, how's Debra doing?"
During sacrament meeting, they were having whispering conversations, and thanks to Iris' magic, only they heard it. Max noticed that Jason was avoiding the contact and playing games on his tablet. Sure he knew his friend was easily distracted, but he did it more than usual.
Everything was going great, until after sacrament meeting, Iris explained the things that involved danger. "I even saved his life. I saved him from a mad driver that intended too harm him. And yesterday, I stopped two robberies."
"And they helped my sister with a guy that bullies her in school who attacked. And they saved my friends' family from being psychopath." Said Max.
Max noticed that Jason was looking worried. "That's. . . uh . . . great!" His tone proved that he was nervous.
Max was confused by Jason's behavior. "And if you want, you can . . . hang out with us." Jason now looked even more nervous! "Jason? Are you alright?"
Jason tried to answer. "I. . ." He looked around. "I . . ." He then sat up. "I gotta go!!" He walked to the nearest door that was in the cultural hall, and out of the church
Everyone was confused.
Max walked to the overflow hole. The others followed.
Carrie and Heather were cheating like they normally do. "Hey, Heather?" Max caught her attention. They looked to their lefts to see Max on the other side of the divider hole. "What's up with Jason? We were talking, then after saying the things we went through that involve danger, he just . walked out of the building."
Heather knew she had to explain it. "Jason's okay, he's just struggling about what happened yesterday. A stranger on Facebook who claimed to be his friend offered him a way to get fifty thousand dollars. Jason was excited at first, but he wasn't sure, so he came to me, he was so stressed, so I took him to Wal-Mart, shopping with me relaxes him. But on our way home, after getting lunch from an Arctic Circle, we were almost car jacked!, we escaped, it panicked him more. And when we made it home, he told the hacker that he told me and asked if it was really his friend, the stranger said he or she was really mad at him and even threatened to hurt him, he was freaked out even more. And that night on the news, there were reports about a possible serial killer in the city, and I think you know what that did to his anxiety. It took all night to calm him down. This morning wasn't different that much. I told him that church was a safe place. And I also told him that he won't be stressed now that the mean boy who ruined his birthday has moved away. But still, what he experienced yesterday made him a little on edge."
Max understood. "So all the talk about the scary things we went through triggered a panic attack!" Heather nodded.
Carrie looked shocked. "What do you mean 'encounters!?"
Max looked nervous. "Um . . . that. . . Frank kid, Sammi's friend getting that psycho house guest, and that would be robber at the library. Nothing else! He smiled with a nervous cartoonish grin. He realized he was way off topic. "Anyway, returning to Jason. I've always know that he has social anxiety. But with me having a friend that can help me with my problems," He tilted his head down and started thinking. "It sounds like out of all my friends, he needs a unicorn friend. Heather, if it's alright with you, could we pay Jason a visit and calm him down? With Iris, it won't take long." Heather accepted.
Max and his entourage exited the church, went home so Max can change from his Sunday clothes to his weekday clothes, while Iris dropped the clothes illusion. They went to Heathers house on the corner of a block. On the side door porch, Max realized a flaw in his plan. "I should've asked for a key. And with the poor guy petrified, I doubt he'll open the door, let alone let us in." Max heard the door click. He opened it. Knowing that it was the work of Iris. "Pretty sure this is breaking and entering, but a friend needs our help."
"Mom?" They heard Jason's voice in another room. "Sorry for bailing out of the church. I was just a little stressed." His distant voice was getting a little louder by the second, proving that he was getting closer. "Yeah yeah, I know it was just like that time when I was five. But I had a good reason to-" Jason walked in the kitchen to see the four friends he was chatting in church.
Max gave a defensive smile for breaking and entering. "Hi. Yeah, I know we broke in, but it was for a good reason. Your mom told us what happened. We came to see if you were alright."
Jason calmed down and walked in the front room to sit in the couch. The four followed. "I'm sorry for just.. walking out of the church like that. When the guy said I could make fifty grand, I was excited, but when he said I could get so much money so easily, I was stressed out because I thought it would be illegal. I asked him if he was really my friend, then he got mad and started threatening me, I started to freak out. And the guy at the Arctic Circle, and the thoughts of a serial killer, didn't help. And I didn't tell my mom this, but last night I had a nightmare that I was attacked." He started panicking again. "I guess when you started saying all that stuff about being in danger, it freaked me out 'cause I was on edge when I got threatened by a guy who claimed was my friend.
And when you invited me to hang out with your friends, that kind of freaked me out too because... ever since I graduated, I didn't spend that much time with my friends, when the messages came, I was happy, but when the threats came, I started freaking out."
"Jason, it's okay, I'm sorry if I set off that panic. I was scared too. But with friends like these, I was completely chill. The day I lost my dad, I was crushed, but that's why and how Iris wanted to be my friend. So, one tragic event can make something great happen. And like I said, if you're feeling lonely, you can always hang out with me. Having a unicorn friend is way better than a genie. I have two muscular bodyguards with wings. I'm friends with a girl who rides a limo to school! So if you 'want,' you can hang out with us. I'm sure Debra misses you. I have a friend who has prosthetic legs and a friend who speaks with a country accent, with Iris' magic, they're fine. And with Iris, Drake, and Angela, you don't have anything to worry about."
Drake added in. "We've been protecting our friends for over two hundred years, if and when you hang out with us, you don't have to worry."
Jason still looked worried. But Iris walked in front of him. "Jason, I've only been in Maxes life for only at least a week, and already, I've made his life better. And I've helped his friends so much too. I became Maxes friend because he needed me, Max may be the friend I am dedicated to, but you need me too, you're his friend, and you need my magic, so if you need friend time, you are free to come visit Max and his friends any time. I'm sure your mother would let you leave the house and visit friends if and when you ask. And I'm sure your friends at school miss you, and will appreciate it if you visit them."
"But . . . a reason why I didn't come to visit, is that my bike is busted, easily punctured tires and all. And I struggle with social anxiety."
Iris raised her head and her horn glowed. "Now your bike is fixed and magic, the tires are indestructible, you can not get exhausted, and there is no need to wear a helmet, because your bike can magically stay steady, that means you will stay safe from accidents. And you are now protected by a spell that can protect you from any harm, so if someone wants to attack you or harm you in anyway, they wont. And when ever you feel stressed around your friends, you can easily calm dow n. And yesterday, with my magic, I was the one who stopped that car jacker. As a unicorn, it's the least I can do. But as a friend, it's the BEST I can do. And if you're still lonely, I promise to give you a mythical friend of your own."
"I...." Jason smiled. "Thank you! this . . . means a lot to me!"
Iris still felt stress in Jason, then she got an idea. "How about we watch a comedy show on Netflix? And with my magic, you will laugh to the point of torture." Jason smiled, put on Netflix, and put on an episode of AFV.
As promised, Jason was laughing so hard and so much, he had to have calm down breaks for a completely different reason. And Drake and Angela strangely found enjoyment of watching humans getting hurt. When Heather returned home, she was thrilled to see her son laughing with his friends. Max, the whole time, was amazed at how Iris can be a great friend to others.
-
When Heather came home, she was relieved that her son was doing fine.
--
Later that day, Max, Sammi, and the three mythical creatures even had dinner at Storm Heart's family's considering that they're family friends now.
Max and Chayton were bonding since both their sisters are friends. "No way! You go to Wakara High?! Same here!"
"And since we're basically friends now, I was wondering if I could hang out in your group?" Chayton asked.
Max accepted. "Oh, sure! Iris can text you where I go to class. You can come there before school starts because I don't know if you have the same lunch period as me."
Both his parents were happy that their son was going to be in a group that was a great influence like their daughter.
---
When they went home after dinner, AFV was on, and Max, Iris, Drake, and Angela were excited to watch another episode of 'human misfortunes'.
Later, they watched two episodes of My Little Pony after that, they went to bed. Max was lying awake, thinking of how an amazing friend Iris is, and went to sleep.
-
Jason's house, Jason lied awake in his own bed. Thinking about what the unicorn said, his friend inviting him to hang out with his new friends. He thought about how long he's wanted to hang out with friends like a normal person. He also thought about how much time he isolated himself from his friends, how much he was so scared, how he was afraid that he might embarrass himself in front of his friends.
But then, he remembered what Max said about how okay it was to hang out with people younger than him. And he remembered what Iris said about how her magic can make his difficult life easy.
From what Max and Iris said, he can make so many new friends so easily.
After about thirty minutes of listening to music, decided, to do it! Thirty minutes later, he fell asleep.
I didn't do that fancy of a thumbnail because I'm not that good at drawing.

If you'd like to draw art of it by yourself, go ahead.
