Backstory to read:
Laura always loved to perpetuate things that were beautiful in her opinion. Since childhood, she collected herbarium. Wonderful plants, foliage with ornate veins, flowers that remained all the same bright even in the dried form.
After the herbarium, she began to collect beetles and butterflies. As a teenager, she watched ants completely nibble a dead crow to the bone.
This was her first skull.
A strange fascination with anatomy and bones prompted her to think about medical education. Unfortunately, she was guided not by a desire to save lives, but by a passion for death. She never realized herself as a physician, but as an artist: every skull that fell into her hands was subsequently transformed into something beautiful. She applied layers of pastel paint on the dull surface of the bones, and with a brush climbed into the most inaccessible areas of the skull. Patiently painted patterns of leaves and young stems, as if hinting: life is a cycle. A new life begins where the old ends.
Her artwork is incomprehensible to many, and perhaps even scary and disgusting. But they can still be found in art galleries. Some fans even wish to perpetuate the skull of their relative or pet in this way.
An interesting fact: as you can see, her pupils are in the shape of a keyhole. This is all because she was born with an eye defect - coloboma. This does not affect her eyesight. Those who looked into her eyes remember this look for a long time.
