Chapter 6: Home Sweet Home.
Dug and Alpha were chilling on the booths watching tv, when they heard a voice on a loud speaker. It was Carl, telling them that it was time to departure. Dug and Alpha ran to the circular window on the back wall and looked out. South America was right below them and the jungle was waiting for them. Alpha started walking back to the front booth; Dug looked at Alpha and gulped.
Dug- Alpha I am kind of nervous, I mean it has been two years since we’ve last been here. We don’t know what to expect when we get down there.
Alpha- I know buddy, but that is why we are coming back. We need to find answers about our past and find out what Operation Fall Down is. I tell you ever since Iota mentioned it I have been thinking about it. It would be cool to find clues about our unfortunate past. Alpha picked up the remote with his mouth and asked Dug to press the power button, the tv shut off and the two dogs left the room. They made their way back downstairs to the museum and came to the Bridge where everybody was at. The Blimp touched down and Carl opened the bridge. Beyond the bridge they were on a beach and it was late in the afternoon.
Carl- Well boys this it, your stop, I hope you guys are safe and careful out there. We will all miss you. The dog pack howled and barked as Dug and Alpha went down the bridge and made their way to the white sandy beach. Carl came down and hugged them both and said,
Carl- Please guys, be safe. Call us every night before you go to bed, we love you both and good luc. Carl hugged Dug and Alpha tight and after a moment let go and started walking back up the bridge. Alpha could see Beta and Gamma in the cog pit driving the blimp. They waved and started rising up in the sky again. Carl and the other dogs yelled bye and the Blimp disappeared over the treeline behind them.
Alpha- Well here we are, I never thought we would see this place again, but here we stand. Dug started nudging Alpha wanting to play. Alpha said no, Dug nudged him again and started running around happily, Alpha yelled for Dug to stop,
Alpha- Dug! Sit! Dug stopped and settled down. We are not here to play, we are here to do our mission, now settle down and join me so we can locate this village.
Dug- Yes Alpha, coming.
Alpha- Good boy, the two started walking on the beach heading east, Alpha was trying to seek out Sunset village, but could not see anything ahead.
Alpha- Dug keep your eyes open for the village ok, I want to find this guy Fernado before it gets to late.
Dug- Yes Alpha I will stay alert and locate the village. The two kept wakjing along the beach chatting and passing the time. Then Dug spotted a top of a building.
Dug- POINT! Alpha looked in the direction Dug was pointing his nose, Alpha smiled and patted Dug on the shoulder. The two made their way to the nearby hill that dipped down right into the mouth of the village. Dug and Alpha started picking up their speed and made their way to the entrance. Everybody started screaming Monster, a group of defenders with rifles came charging out one of the tents!
Lead Defender- Who are you two get out ofour village before we put you two down! Dug and Alpha were scared and shocked,
Alpha- Whoa, whoa, take it easy we are good dogs, we are not here to hurt anyone please don’t shoot!
Lead Defender- You guys are not working with the wolves? Dug and Alpha shook their heads wildly no.
Lead Defender- Lower your weapons they are good, they are not with the wolf pack. The other villagers lowered their rifles and came to greet their new guests.
Alpha- So what is going on here is there an issue with wolves here? A familiar voice came from behind the group of defenders, it was Raphael!
Raphael- Yes Alpha, They have broken into our village more than a dozen times in the last two weeks alone. They are after our tech that resides with Fernando. Come I will lead you to him he will tell you more about the mission at hand. Dug and Alpha followed Raphael to the furthest tent in the village. He led them inside and came to a latch on the ground. He opened it.
Raphael- this is a top secret location, this bunker holds every weapon that this village needs to survive. If the wolves in the jungle knew this was here, we would all be dead. The group went down in the bunker. A man was sitting at a desk along the back wall.
Raphael- Fernando, they are here. Fernando turned around slowly, looking up over his glasses he saw the two dogs he asked for.
Fernando- Welcome boys to Sunset Village, and of course welcome back to South America. Raphael you can leave I have some private business with our guests. Raphael said nothing else and went up the stairs and closed the latch behind him.
Alpha- So Fernando, what is the mission here? What do Dug and I need to do in order to get this jungle right again.
Fernando- I am so glad you guys came. The jungle, as you probably know by now has a new evil that resides in it. There is a new organization that moved in there shortly after you guys left. It is a new attempt at putting the world into a new extinction. Fernado pulled out a binder and took out several photos and laid each one out on the table. Dug and Alpha were so intrigued by what they were seeing.
Alpha- What is this? Lamdaton Industries, is this a weapons company? Fernando leaned over and took off his glasses and smiled at the two dogs.
Fernando- You guys don’t know do you? You guys a part of a big company just like a lot of other people are. You guys did not know that master bought all the tech on your collars from this company? (The two dogs shook their heads no). I am shocked, the GPS, the communicator, and the translator chip itself, are all components manufactured by Lamfaton industries. Look here, this place was a member and supporter for Lamdaton, a place called Kronos, heard of it? Well a man by the name of Buddy Pine, or Syndrom to be exact, had a contract with this company. They provided him the parts for his omnidroid robots, and developed the manta jet. But unfortunately, the jet was destroyed in a neighborhood in Metroville. The robots also were all destroyed including the latest one, it was sent to the city and was ment to attack it. Then there is another company that signed a contract with Lamdaton, have you heard of Devtech industries? The CEO Winston Dever was not associated with this but his sister, Evelyn Dever was. I don’t know if you guys heard but the last attack attempted By Evelyn was to hypnotize the incredibles and other supers to hijack the company’s ship and destroy the city. Well if you did not hear about it its ok. Evelyn’s Hypnosis goggles were created with the help of Lamdaton industries and now her goggles are now somewhere out there. We cannot let anyone find them.
Alpha- Hold on Fernando why are you telling me and Dug this, we have no idea who these people are or why they are part of this company. We are here for the mission, no offense but these people don’t matter to us.
Fernando- Well I know, but I am trying to tell you guys that you are not the only ones connected to this company. There are other consumers involved as well. But you’re right. The mission is simply this. Fernando pulls out another photo, it was a picture of a huge round machine with a big antenna on top of it.
Dug- whoa what in the world is that thing Fernando? Alpha also wanted to know what this device was.
Fernando- This is Call of the Wild, the most advanced weapon from Lamdaton yet, It was brought here about six months ago and whoever took control of it is somewhere in the jungle. You guys need to journey through the jungle back to Paradise Falls and destroy this weapon before they can launch it. If they launch it, it will put the world in a new corruption and the world as we know it will never be the same again.
Alpha- So, why couldn’t Raphael tell us this back at home, we would have known what we were walking into.
Dug- What are you saying Alpha, you want to go home? Alpha looked at dug and shook his head yes.
Alpha- Yes I am calling master to come pick us up, I do not want to be involved with a company plot of world domination. Come Dug we are heading back to the beach. Thank you Fernando but we will pass, we did not sign up for this. Thank you for your time and good luck with everything. Just as Dug and Alpha were walking out Fernando called after them,
Fernando- Please guys, do not leave us hanging, the wolves have killed a lot of our villagers and need help, please stay! Alpha stopped and re thought his decision he turned around and made his way back to the table.
Alpha- What villagers died from these wolves you speak of? Fernando was too sad to answer but told Alpha anyway,
Fernando- Women, children, some of the elderly, and not to mention, my family. He pulled out photos of his young daughter and son and his wife, my daughter, Rosie, my son, Davis, and my wife, Ellen. Alpha started getting big eyed and glanced up at Fernando.
Alpha- Who are these wolves you speak of, me and Dug will stay and face these monsters. How dare they ambush this poor village just so they can get what they desire? You know what I am so mad I could spit! Fernando pulled out two more photos of a grey wolf and a man.
Fernando- Do you guys know this wolf? Dug and Alpha looked at the wolf. Dug unfortunately, did not know but Alpha on the other hand, knew exactly who it was.
Alpha- I know that wolf, I ran into him three years ago deep in the jungle. It was the day that Burns went missing and he just stared at me. I seen him before who is he? Fernando took a sip of his drink then softly said,
Fernando- This creature is known as Wane. He is the 2nd in command in the wolf pack owned by Cole Arnoldson, pointing to the man next to Wane. Cole Arnoldson is the man behind the raids of our village. I also hate to tell you guys this, but he was Charles Muntz’s best friend. Cole I believe is trying to seek you guys out in revenge to what your master did him decades ago. Something happened between your master and Cole to make Cole hate him for the rest of his life.
Alpha- Well we accept the mission, we are heading to the jungle now. Thank you for the info on everything we will keep our eyes peeled for the wolves. Dug and Alpha started walking to the hatch and opened it, Fernando walked behind them leading them to the jungle. Fernando led them to a trail leading straight into the heart of the jungle.
Fernando- well guys, that way leads into the heart of the jungle as well to Paradise Falls, good luck and farewell. We will be seeing each other real soon I hope, yes? Alpha and Dug said yes. Fernando waved goodbye and went back to the village. The sun was starting to reach the horizon; it was late in the afternoon, Dug and Alpha started walking down the trail and into the jungle.
Alpha- Home sweet home Dug, just like old times. You know after all this time I never thought we would be back here. Alpha looked behind him, Dug was trailing him.
Alpha- Hey Dug what’s up, why are you trailing? Come on man come walk with me. Alpha stopped and waited for Dug to catch up.
Dug- I still am not understanding what we are doing Alpha? Are we finding out about our past, or looking for a weapon that could fatally damage the world. So what is the mission? Alpha bowed his head and looked at Dug.
Alpha- We are here to destroy this weapon and avenge our family from the evil in these woods. I don’t care about Lamdaton industries or, The incredible, or Syndrom, the omnidroids, or manta jet, or the fact that our key components came from this company. Oh yeah and hypnosis goggles. We are here for our mission, not someone else’s ok? Dug wagged his tail and joined Alpha. The two dogs made their way to a set of thick bushes. Alpha forced Dug to stop; he sniffed the air and did not like what he smelled.
Alpha- Dug get behind me, I smell something interesting. Alpha knelt down and crawled his way to the bushes. He saw a clump of wires going from the bushes and followed it up a pole. Alpha looked at the pole and saw two huge megaphone shaped speakers on it it. Alpha backed away slowly, and grabbed Dug.
Alpha- I think we better backtrack and look for another way through, I think there is a trap in those bushes.
Dug- How do you mean?
Alpha-Look at the pole there are two speakers on it with wires going into the bushes, I think that is an alarm, and from the looks of it the wires must lead to a pressure switch hidden in the bushes, Dug loked more carefully.
Dug- Dang Alpha how are we going to get around this, can we cut through those bushes over there? Dug Pointing to a set of horned spikes sticking out all over. Alpha looked annoyed at Dug and replied,
Alpha- Dug take a look at those bushes, do you honestly think we can get threw that? Dug looked again and pawed his head. Alpha grinning and making a weird face at Dug said
Alpha- And, can we get through it? Dug said no and apologized. Alpha looked all around but there were thorn bushes everywhere. He told Dug to walk through the bushes with the alarm panel, and said stay alert for the switch. But Dug was not paying attention and sunk in the ground! He had walked on top of the pressure switch, the alarm sounded and said (Security compromised, security compromised) Alpha grabbed Dug and barked at him.
Alpha- Dug you idiot I told you to keep your eyes open for the switch, now look what you done. You activated the trap! Suddenly an engine noise started up, To Dug and Alpha’s ears it sounded like a lawn mower! Alpha slowly rolled his head to Dug and said,
Alpha- Um, Dug do you hear that? Dug- Yes I do, it sounds like a lawn mower. Then the bushes were shredded a engine box with blades exposed starting rolling after Dug and Alpha! The two dogs darted dep in the woods not knowing where they were going. The machine shredded everything behind them and was ginning fast on the two dogs!
Alpha- what the hell is going on here! Somebody is trying to kill us!! Dug darted down a aisle of bushes leaving Alpha to fend for himself!
Alpha- Dug!! You freakon idiot, what are you doing?! I am still being chased by this machine!! Alpha ran through a thick set of bushes and the machine was starting to slow down. Alpha struggled to force his way through the bushes and came out on the other side. From Alpha’s hearing the machine sounded like it was stalling in the bushes. Alpha got on his communicator and called for Dug.
Alpha- Dug where in God’s name are you at? I have no idea where I am. I am deeper in the woods, I am surrounded by trees and bushes I don’t know where to go from here.
Dug- Did you lose the machine Alpha that thing was scary! Alpha pawed his head and deep sighs.
Alpha- Yes Dug I lost the machine I don’t know where I am Can you turn on your tracker and look for me?
Dug- yeah I already have it on now, my collar says I am right near you. Then Alpha saw Dug come through the bushes in front of him. Alpha savagely walked over to Dug and made a mad face.
Alpha- Don’t you ever leave me like that again you hear me Dug?! Dug shook his head yes and the two dogs stood in the middle of the open area trying to figure out where to go next. Then the two of them heard the lawn mower sounding machine coming through the thick set of bushes! Alpha screamed run as it appeared from the bushes. With it having shredded all that was slowing it down, it now rolled at top speed again! Alpha and Dug sprinted for their lives; the machine got two inches close to Alpha, nearly chopping his bobbed tail off. Alpha saw a huge thick oak tree; He grabbed Dug and shoved him in the direction with the oak tree. The two dogs sprinted as fast as they could then rolled around the thick tree. The machine ran straight into the base of the tree making a huge loud impact noise. Like a mower running over rocks! Then a explosion occurred right after the impact. Dug and Alpha were now surrounded by smoky filled air. The two dogs got up and went around the tree. The machine was on fire and destroyed. Alpha stared at the big whole the blade created when it hit the tree. He walked up to the machine and read the label. The Chopper 3000. Alpha stared in shock at Dug and said,
Alpha- This is not masters trap, this is someone else’s. It appears to me that whoever is in this jungle now is on high alert for intruders. I have never seen this thing before, so it must have been implemented when we left two years ago. The two dogs left the area and ventured down a long trail leading to a hillside. Alpha and Dug stopped suddenly when they heard barking and howling in the distance. A wolf pack came charging through the tall grass and stopped. A grey wolf came from behind them and looked around the area.
Wane- Alright wolves I know we got to be close to that explosion sound. Let’s keep searching; I know something is out there. Then he stopped when he saw Dug and Alpha. He told the other wolves to stay put as he walked over to them. He ignored Dug when he walked by him and went staright to Alpha.
Alpha- Hi Nr. Wolf we mean no harm, we just came through looking for a camp site. Dug and I are on a special mission and we are here until Friday. So, if you don’t mind we are here to stay if that is ok? The wolf just looked at Alpha as he jumped and hugged him and patted him on the back.
Wane- Oh Alpha it is so good to see you again, don’t you remember me? Its Wane we met three years ago when we ran into each other in the jungle. Alpha looked closer at Wane. It was it was the same wolf he ran into when he heard the explosion sound and Burns disappeared.
Alpha- Oh yeah, hey man so how are you, what have you been doing? Wane sat down and told Alpha everything. Dug tried to make friends with Wane but failed.
Dug- Hi my name is Dug its nice to meet you Wane. Dug held his paw out for Wane to shake it, but Wane ignored it.
Wane-So, Alpha we are looking for more help we were wondering if you wanted to join us on a quest for power. Alpha looked at Dug who was still holding his paw out for Wane.
Alpha- I think Dug is trying to shake your paw Wane you are being mean by ignoring him. Wane turned around and said in a disgusting voice,
Wane- I am not shaking your paw Dug, I suggest you put it down before it goes flying, ok?! Wane turned back to Alpha, Alpha did not like the way That wane was speaking to Dug.
Alpha-Um, Wane that was not very nice of you to talk to my best friend like that. Wane ignored Alpha as he was looking for something. He pulled out two pieces of paper one was the address of the location and the other was an invitation for Alpha.
Alpha- What is this Wane is this invitation for me and Dug for dinner? Wane laughed and said the invitation was just for Alpha. Alpha was getting really mad by how Wane was treating Dug. He threw it on the ground in front of Wane and squinted at him.
Wane- Did you just throw those on the ground Alpha, did you really hust do that? I only want you there I don’t want that thing coming to our base.
Alpha- that’s it Wane I have had just about enough of your attitude towards Dug, either he gets invited or I don’t come simple as that. Wane started putting his claws in the ground and finally said fine. Alpha said he would go then. Wane hugged Alpha and said nothing to Dug.
Wane- We need to head back to the base, I will see you around Alpha. With that the wolves ran back in the tall grass and vanished in the jungle. Dug was looking mad as The two dogs made their way up the hill.
Dug- Why does that wolf hate me I don’t even know him, and its like he hates me. Did I do something to make him hate me Alpha? Alpha just shook his head and replied,
Alpha- Don’t even sweat it Alpha, He is not in the best of mood anyway. He probably heard that explosion and was ready for action. Let’s focus on the mission at hand. They came to a wall of thick bushes and saw an opening in the middle. There was a trail leading deep behind the bushes and heading into dangerous territory. The two dogs were walking the trail and came to a circular area. Two trees stood on either side, the trail continued up a hill. Dug and Alpha made their way up the hill and just beyond saw an entrance to a cave. The two dogs entered and saw two ice chests in the middle of the room. Alpha and Dug made their way to the goodies in the room. There was a note on the chest saying: Hope you guys do well on your mission and hope everything is going great. Here are drinks and tons of food to keep you guys full until Friday when we leave for home.
Dug- Well why don’t we grab something to eat Alpha I am sure hungry. Alpha suddenly put his paw on Dugs speaker. He heard a noise out in the distance. He started hunting; he sniffed the ground and went outside. Then he saw a figure running right towards him it was a grey wolf. He stopped at the foot of Alpha and hugged him tightly.
Wolf- Oh alpha, it is so good to finally meet you oh my gosh. My name is Riley and I am a member of the wolf pack, well at least I think I am. The other wolves don’t like me at all and I try every day to fit in. Well if it is not to much trouble may I join you two. Then Riley burps loudly, Oh I am sorry, I have a little stomach problem, ever since I was a puppy I have had a problem with gas in my stomach so pardon me if I let some go tonight.
Dug- that’s ok Riley, just the other night Alpha jad a burping problem too. But his came from our retirement home secretary who tried to cook for us. Alpha squinted and growled at Dug.
Alpha- You don’t ever speak of that again Dug, you promised me you would never speak of that night again.
Dug- Alright I am sorry Alpha it won’t happen again. Then Alpha dug in the ice chest and pulled out some hot dogs. He started a fire and put three hot dogs over the fire and started hanging out with Riley. It was weird for Dug and Alpha to dine with a wolf. They hoped that he would not tell Wane where they were at.
