Hey guys, it's time for another Rocky stick for the month. This time, a recently new stick came to the shop, but eventually I got around to doing this one for a review. Let's get to it!
Rocky Patel Hamlet Liberation Robusto:
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Honduras and Nicaragua
Pre-Light/Construction:
The box was different in color from the usual Rocky Patel colors. More like a lighter side of the spectrum. The main thought that came to mind was a simple crest along with the Liberation note, like a decree from leadership declaring a law be put into effect. The wrapper itself was neatly wrapped and had a bit of shagg at the foot. Gotta' start it off with a bang, am I right? The veins and seems were highly present, making it more of an
new age look for English Lore in cultured history. The pre-slice draw was nice and loose, but not too loose. Looking forward to this since I had an extra day off from work.
The Burn Part 1:
The first few puffs were vibrant with white pepper notes. along with natural cedar. Mainly because of the shaggy foot until the wrapper actually hit. I was off an extra day from work and decided to cover this one ahead of schedule while typing the last review. Was also deciding whether I should skip a review month on February due to scheduling and Con prep for TFF. The draw quikly tightened up a bit more once the wrapper hit and was introduced to some heavy cocoa notes. Almost like a medium mocha taste. Definitely something I would have in the morning, first thing.
The Burn Part 2:
As the stick continued down the path in wrapper territory, the cedar and white pepper notes started to become less harsh and more warm and roasty. It's like you got back home after having a long and hard day at work. It's nice and cozy, and you practically don't want to leave the comfort of it all. The cocoa notes blended in well with it all. Soon a little cream note came along to coat the cocoa notes. Like a bit it regular flavored baileys. Soon before the 2nd third ended, the cedar notes became a little more broader with wood notes, giving a more robust stature to the the point where you don't want to get out of the house again.
The Burn Final:
With the final puffs coming to a close, there was not much change at this point. Mainly the white pepper took a step back in strength while the cocoa and cedar wood notes were neck and neck to the finish. With the ending of the stick itself after a purge, the ending notes to finish was the cedar wood, with the cocoa 2nd and white pepper at the end. Thus ending the stick for my day off.
Verdict:
This is definitely something I would have during the morning first thing with a big cup of coffee. If you see some of these in your shop, definitely pick up a few.
