LoL DONE. It's bound in a book now, but the book isn't totally done so I'll just take photos of that once it is. So here are the illustrations.
Assignment: An alphabet book; my subject is mythological creatures, beings, and monsters.
3 weeks, 26 paintings (4.5x6"). Acrylic paints on pastel paper.
The creatures in the books are labeled, but I scanned these before I added those:
Angel
----Judeo-Christian; a messenger of the gods.
Basilisk
----European; born of a snake egg placed under a cockerel.
Church Grim
----European; misshapen dog that guards churchyards from evil.
Dragon
----European; reptilian beast of great intelligence and power.
Efreet
----Islamic; a class of infernal djinn. [I hate how this one came out, would like to repaint it sometime]
Faun
----Roman; place-spirits of untamed woodland. Far less rowdy than the similar-looking satyrs.
