LoL DONE. It's bound in a book now, but the book isn't totally done so I'll just take photos of that once it is. So here are the illustrations.
Assignment: An alphabet book; my subject is mythological creatures, beings, and monsters.
3 weeks, 26 paintings (4.5x6"). Acrylic paints on pastel paper.
The creatures in the books are labeled, but I scanned these before I added those:
Glatisant
----Arthurian; a chimaeric beast born of a treacherous princess.
Hippogriff
----European; the unlikely offspring of a gryphon and mare-- they represent impossibility and love.
Incubus
----European; demons in male form that prey sexually upon (usually sleeping) victims.
Jackalope
----North American; huge jackrabbits with an antelope's horns and pheasant's feet. They can imitate human speech.
Kitsune
----Japanese; fox spirits whose tails reflect their age and power.
Lion Dog
----Chinese; guardians of temples, and always depicted in pairs. [except here lol I'm not drawin' two in one pic]
