Even as a calf, Buckwheat was BIG in every sense of the word. He needed all that food for his growth spurts!
Cooking was one of his passions as a kid and he would read cookbooks as if they were bedtime stories. Buckwheat spent a lot of his play times at quaint little afternoon tea parties that some of the other calves would set up, not only because there would be snacks, but also because he could whip up simple batches of bread and cookies that he could cook over the fire (either with an actual skillet or a large, flat rock) given a few ingredients.
