I'm not sure how succesful this experiment is. I'm still mulling it over. I was trying to use the colour of the paper to stand in for Quagga's tan undercoat. Even it didn't work out quite the way I wanted it was nice to finally draw a male Quagga! Ink and acrylic on casson paper.

It looks nice, but I think if you darkened the background right around the figure itself - especially in the parts where the tan color is most prominent - the paper color would look more like it's a part of the figure's natural colors, instead of 'blank space'. Also, the black stripes sort of give it a topheavy look, if that makes sense?
