Actually, it is completely copied from a japanese resin kit that was created by an "amateur" and exclusively sold during one of those big japanese model kit conventions, around 15 years ago. I just LOVED the cute, funny and silly design so much, I did my own resin kit of it, and this image never faded in my mind.
