This piece serves multiple purposes in the Crimson Dames Novella. First it helps show a bit of the relationship between Orphan and Standard. Then it serves as a frame of reference concerning their physical scale to one another. Finally it shows a bit of the relationship between Orphan and Vampire who she is reacting to despite vampire not directly being in this piece.
