Hey guys, time for another piece. This was a gift from another cigar patron at the club. Was finishing up a review from before while giving it a smoke. I had my music on while typing and the usual patrons were watching the history channel. It was a calm day for a friday. A bit rainy, but nothing too bad. Was something I really needed to relax. Let's get to it!
Rocky Patel Wall Street:
Wrapper: Honduran Habano
Binder: Honduras
Filler: Honduras and Nicaragua
Pre-Light/Construction:
When I received the stick itself a week earlier, but let it settle in my box for a week. I normally don't smoke 60x6s, but it was about time I started trying them out again. The wrapper itself, was a calm milk chocolate color. The touch was a bit dry, but firm. a tiny bit of oil. The veins and seems were medium in presentation. The bands themselves were a combination of a Wall Street and The Great Gatsby. Something exclusive, and yet available to the public. Mainly was enthralled that this was a particular piece I haven't smoked. Mainly either the fact that not many stores would make them, or they would be some throwaways from the co. for some magazine or online orders. Regardless, I wanted to try it. The slice draw was loose, but not too loose. Let's light it up.
The Burn Part 1:
The first few puffs were very vibrant in warm cedar notes. Some light black pepper notes soon joined in the race. Mainly something very light-medium in tone. I had a glass of water for the time being since the bar didn't open up until 5pm, but I wasn't planning on a drink until the podcast that evening. Unfortunately a related date for a certain local fur meet was going down, and I eventually had to cancel the podcast with a rain check. I felt bad later that night, but this was my town's first local meet. It eventually was a nice meet, but back to the review! The draw from the stick was a nice even burn, but the looseness of the stick surprisingly wasn't much of an issue. The notes were still vibrant, but in a gentle manner in strength. The Soon some earthy wood notes came along to join in combination with the cedar. Was something that was very gentle with splendor in taste. Thus ending the 1st third.
The Burn Part 2:
As the stick on, the notes were a little more richer, but the consistency was still vibrant and flourishing. Was mainly surprised this kind of stick was a type of stick to order in a mag or online. (not sure) A slight nutmeg note came into play to blend in with the natural notes. I felt bliss at this point listening to some remixes from Pogo. The ash was however becoming a bit flakey in consistency. Wasn't necessarily a bad thing imo, but it kind of rubs me the wrong way. Mainly the flavor notes were still vibrant again. Not much else change at this point. The body was mainly medium.
The Burn Final:
I soon gave the stick a purge for a fresher taste. Soon the roasty notes came to give it more structure. By this time, the stick itself was becoming spongey from a little squeeze. The pepper notes were beginning to build up in strength a little more. Not much honestly because the tone was still calm. The nutmeg was back and forth in strength. Near the end of the stick some of the roasty notes stayed after the purge. The wood notes along with the cedar were mainly in the middle of the notes. With the last few puffs, the main note to finish off the race was the pepper. The cigar itself was near sponge in the feel. It practically smooshed when I put it out.
Verdict:
This was something very pleasing for the month to review. Suprised mainly that these aren't more available at the shops I usually visit in the states. Even as a 60x6, I can only wonder what the other notes would be in taste. Honestly it has potential imo. Regardless I was glad to try one. If you happen see one in a shop by hance, grab a few. Definitely a smoke for any occasion.
