Well, to explain it would take away from how humorous it is.
It's just something he says to everyone, nothing more than that, really.
I mean, if you think about, when the only person you've collaborated with is another character that you've created yourself, wouldn't you find that humorous?

Well, it's what he says to people he doesn't want to collaborate with when they ask.
Sorry...I'm a little bit confused on what you mean by that last part. You know he's collaborated with other musicians in the past, right? I mean, it's not something he does often but at the same time, I don't see working alone as a negative thing either.

It's more-so about how it's perceived by people.
When he says things like this, it's generally deemed as a friendly disagreement to collaborate. However, it's also seen as though the person who asks to collaborate is not good enough to be in a collaboration with Renard.
I apologize if it appears to be baseless trolling, because within me and my network of musicians and friends, this is something that we think is amusing.
I'll admit that this stems from how many people have asked for me and Renard to collaborate and whenever I pass this on to Renard, he has disagreed to collaborate even though our styles would mesh extremely well and we are both very good at our own styles of music and work quickly enough for it to not be a problem for either of us.
The biggest thing about this is that I really want to respect Renard as a fellow artist and musician as we are very close in every community we are in, but the more he does stupid shit like this, the less plausible it is for me to do so, and it's quite frustrating, otherwise I wouldn't keep doing these trite things.
All in all, I'm fine with voicing what everyone I know is secretly thinking and are too scared to say to him.
If he has a problem with it, then I hope he responds to me accordingly.
and yeah I know he's collaborated with musicians it's not like I'm going to be ignorant about the things I put on blast.

the only thing i have "wrong" with it is that i simply usually do not enjoy collaborating. the last time i collaborated with another electronic music artist was a number of years ago, and since then, i have collaborated with people that perform on live instruments and perform vocals. i just think you're being ignorant in your misunderstanding more than anything else here. i'm not doing any "stupid shit", i just, simply put, do not enjoy collaborating with other artists 90% of the time.
yeah I can't say what is actually the case with you because, well, it may or may not be true. I'll take your word for it, as I suppose I should.
but really what I was conveying was a mockery of how you turn people down.
artistically, this picture holds strong and incites a good rouse with people within our circles and it's unfortunate that it does so, which is why I created it.
and with this comment, it kind of just makes it more instated, from more perceived ideas that only working with live instruments is good enough for you, or that everyone that notices the silly things you do to be wrong.
:|
Yeah, I meant for this whole thing to be taken way more light-heartedly like for you to say "Yeah, haha I totally do that!!" than getting defensive over it.

no real response to that aside from that my previous statement regarding my preferences holding true.
the only reason i was so serious about it was because you asked for a response in what seemed to be a serious tone. it's hard to take things light-heartedly with you when you're always so sure you know everything about me and why i do everything i do. :V

dude no way this whole thing is a joke
seriously
sorry I have a fucked up sense of humor heh but I'll be honest it's pretty hard sticking up for you when stuff like this comes up and people ask me acting like i know
I mean, I do know alot about you since I like to keep tabs on my fellow furry musicians, but you have to admit the fact that everyone thinks you're a dick and blows them off for new friends and comes to me like we're best friends and wonder what happened is hilarious.
Since we have so much in common, from our musical tastes down to our friends (or people that used to be your friends or whatever you want to call them now) it's pretty hard to keep us separate, and I'm trying to do my part to make that happen. :>
but damn a collaboration with you would really blow people away, I'm just saying. It would clear a lot of things up for everyone.

regarding the whole "new friends" thing, i've always been kind of a drifter. i'm compatible with some people, i'm incompatible with others. i don't really find out until i spend some real time with them. i've got a pretty core group of friends that's been with me for a long time, and continue to do so; a lot of them just don't happen to be online, which is where i've found a lot of people that i'm totally incompatible with.
the people that "used" to be my friend or whatever, that you're friends with now, are people that i just found that i wasn't compatible enough with, or that i felt awkward around. continuing to hang out with somebody you feel awkward around is well, awkward, to say the least. there's no point really keeping a friendship if it would end up feeling burdensome for not only yourself in that respect, but for the other person in finding out that you'd continue going on about it, lying. i think that's a lot lower than kind of drifting away.
that's just how i've always been though, and through that, i've really discovered the kind of people i'm most comfortable around, and in the same sense, the ones i'm least comfortable around. i'm sure the people that have gone to you wondering what happened have found a better friend in you than i could ever be due to lacking interests in a lot of fields, or them having interests that made me uncomfortable, or so on and so forth.
that's about it really. :]

honestly I am the same way
that's kind of how everyone is, really so that's not really a big deal to me
I could be read as though I'm blowing raspberries at you and saying that your old friends are mine and all that shit but that's not what I meant, what I meant for the focus to be on was that perception that it's the case.
I mean, I hope everyone reads your responses but alot of them aren't going to read these and still feel like you're a dick and I'm tired of agreeing with them because you "drift" or whatever with everyone and everything and other things in "quotations" and shit.
look when it comes down to it, all of this is just making fun of the obvious constant refusals you have made to collaborate with artists
didn't mean to connect it to all the people that you drifted from or whatever but heh that's cool too
I mean, I don't think you appreciate my work but I sure do.

Jesus Christ do I detect butthurt of an incredibly massive degree? Get a fucking grip on yourself. So some dude doesn't like your work and politely turned down doing a collab with you. Boo-frickety. Get producing more of your own work held to your own standards and don't cry about some dude on the Internet not liking your stuff like this, frankly it's pathetic and makes you look terrible.
hahahah hahahahahahah holy shit great comment, homie.
I'm not sure if you know me, but my music production standards are far higher than you seem to be perceiving them to be. I'd even go and say they are far, far more refined than Renard's, but that would sound egotistical. (Which I am.)
I appreciate your autistic two cents but I was totally done with what I wanted to do and the only thing that's funnier than Renard's response is people like you trying to chime in and speak for him.
He's already spoken, and we've settled another one of my childish jabs at him without people like you getting in the way with cookie-cutter defensive squawking at me hahahaha.
You obviously don't understand the full story here so I'll just say that it's not about that he doesn't like my stuff or being 'butthurt' or whatever the fuck you're talking about so do some research or something before you try and say something because frankly you sound fucking retarded and if that makes me look 'terrible', then I am completely fine with being 'terrible' if aspies like you don't follow my work.

Falconwolf is a really good artist, if you don't like her artwork then keep it to yourself you jerk!

I can't quite recall any examples of "Real Art" that had 20-word-long titles that basically EXACTLY DESCRIBE what's happening in the picture.
In fact, doesn't that ROB us of creative artistic interpretation potential by limiting our choice to think about what the artist COULD be trying to depict?
If this IS "art", then it's severely limited in its scope. No one likes that.

Yes, because if someone doesn't like a piece of "art", then that automatically entitles their opinion on why this is so to be worth little more than mere excrement (which, may I remind you, is still more appealing than that fella's artwork you just linked me to earlier)
For surely that is certainly not the reason why a "critique me" group exists within FurAffinity, correct? Because if anyone were to say "I didn't really like this about your art" or "I don't like this submission at all because...", then fear not, for they automatically are retarded and don't deserve the time of day.
Of course in saying this, I realize I myself have not offered to "critique" the artwork thoroughly, so if you would prefer i do that, I would be more than happy to. However, please take this offer lightly, because I already have a list prepared - and will post - of everything that is bad, sloppy, or unattractive about said "artwork".
Secondly, if you didn't give a shit, then why have you replied several times already? It seems to me you might be mad. Are you mad? That would stink if you were mad.
I hope you're mad. Don't be mad.

Yet you reply again. Apparently I'm worth something to you after all, even if it's just a response. Your argument fails once again, due to your lack of ability to just hold yourself back and not feed into the conversation.
Besides, it's no skin off my nose if neither you nor your friend want to improve at all in your artistic endeavors. If anything, it just gives us even more reason and ammo to utterly humiliate you when you then turn around and go, "OH GOD WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE NOT LIKE THIIIIIS". And THEN, when you finally snap and rant on us or otherwise make a complete fool of yourself in response, then you get your very own ED page mocking your immaturity and lack of social comprehension, which will follow you for the rest of your days.
So go ahead and call me "self-righteous" if that's what makes it easier for you to sleep tonight. But at the end of the day, you and your friend still have shitty artwork, and I just have a good laugh.

of course I'm going to keep replying this is fucking great
man I'd love a ED page about how immature and socially terrible I am that would also be great!
and those artists aren't my friends, I just enjoy their artwork and it's a shame you can't see the beauty of it because of an apparent constrained idea of what "good" artwork is!
I am a fool for thinking you'll eventually be able to grasp something above your level of thinking, but one can only hope.
Anyway, I'm glad we're both having a good time here because arguing about differing opinions is always great!

I'm fully capable of enjoying artwork even if it's not stellar in quality, if I can tell some actual effort was put into it. Such is not the case here.
And whether or not I am immediately able to grasp something beyond my level of thinking depends on what is being considered and to what degree I must transcend my own understanding of the concept in order to reach the next tier, but I can absolutely assure you the only direction I could travel in "grasping" what I see before me here, is down.
This is not so much a case of me knocking something down a few pegs than it is of you attempting to portray something as greater, MUCH greater, than it actually is. And failing, miserably.

I personally, feel there is nearly no point at all in collaborating with other electronic artists. Most dance music can be replicated a million times over with the exact same results (especially on this site). I'm sure that some artists create enough of a signature to become established within the genre and, in that case, I suppose collaboration would be quite a good thing to do, but, in all honesty, what you're getting is an ever so slightly different riff with an ever so slightly different syntheised instrument over the top.
I have to agree with Renard here (even though I think this whole ongoing argument is like two 6-year-olds fighting over a toy firetruck) about the 'organic instruments only' collab. Putting an electronic artist together with someone playing a live instrument can actually create some seriously interesting work that, without the other person (in both cases), would not happen. Two electronic artists working together is usually pointless, as it's nothing the other person couldn't do. Most people on this site are electro/dance artists and those who play organic instruments could have a hard time transferring files in the exact tempo and deciding who mixes the track down etc.
Organic instrumentalists, unless a multi-instrumentalist or have a decent recording/mixing program, may not be able to create a full-sounding track with many instruments in it, but an electro artist can, from scratch, as the program IS their instrument. You put a load of real instruments together and you get a band; a useful collaboration. You put two dance artists together and you have two bands switching and playing over each other.
That's why I can understand what Renard is saying: there is no point.

Well the thing that's wrong with your comment is that it shows you don't understand electronic music in the least bit.
You share the same idea that since it's more difficult to record and use live instruments, that it magically makes the music better.
It doesn't.
A shitty musician is a shitty musician no matter what the instrument, and with you passing off that any kind of music (you specifically saying dance music) can sound the same, even when two very refined artists get together and blend their styles into one track, shows your ignorance of the subject and, well...
You don't understand what Renard is saying and you don't understand what I'm saying or what any of us electronic musicians are saying so don't pretend like you do.

Alright, calm down.
I'm not talking about quality of recordings, I'm saying that you can create electronic music all by yourself. That's why I see no specific point in electronic collaboration. Do it if you feel the need to, but if someone doesn't want to do it with you then who cares? You can easily do it yourself. <----That's what I was saying in my last post.
I wasn't trying to offend you, merely trying to state an opinion, so if you take what I'm saying and turn it into an insult, then I guess you don't 'understand' being social. You can argue that Renard isn't being sociable at all by refusing to collaborate with you or other people, and, one some level, that is a fair shout, but I don't see why you take it as such a hit.
In response to your comment on my ignorance on the subject, I guess you can say I am 'ignorant' of dance music and that I don't care about the genre that much. Because I don't. I like music that has something interesting about it, be that rhythmically, tonally or any other specific musical factor. Sometimes, dance music does that for me. A lot of the time the riffs in it are very good, but I still don't take it that incredibly seriously. Yeah, there are some really good dance tracks and some of it does take a lot of effort and practice to master, but a lot of it (again, especially on this site) is ballbag. Which is why I would hesitate to collaborate with anyone on here, because, more often than not, I could do it myself without the hassle. There really is no connection between it, apart from having an excuse to have both of your characters standing back to back on the cover art.
I do watch Renard, which is why you may think me biased and, yes, I do like their stuff, but only some of it. Every now and then he does something new or exciting that I haven't really heard before, but after two songs I get tired. I'm sure (as well as most other electronic music here) that I would get into it more in a club with the atmosphere, but outside of that there is little for me to love.
Personally, I find those who take electronic music really, really seriously are beyond pretentious. It's really not that big a deal and not something worth raging over. You can go to my page and look at some of the dance music I've made and say "right, this is wrong and this drop should have less in it and this effect is not very good" but, surprise surprise, I won't care. And I won't care because I make dance music for fun. The exact reason it was made for in the first place: fun. Not for people to sit down and listen to and make serious business, just fun.
I made a dance track for a friend once and he aid "LOL MAKE SUM MOAR" so I did. And that's all I care about the subject.
My summary:
Dance music is a genre with loads of sub genres: DnB, house, dubstep etc. If you blend them together you get pretty much the same thing with a different drum beat to different synth lines.
The same thing goes for other styles of music. If you put bebop and latin jazz together you just get latin jazz with a trumpet solo, but the purpose of collaboration there is for the live experience of two artists jamming. On a CD I wouldn't much really care. Dance music (at least the stuff you're talking about) is not done live; it is played from a track, making the effect all the same as a CD.
If you get a DANCE artist and mix it with a JAZZ artist, that's when you get a meaningful collaboration.

It's as simple as "wow, we both have cool styles let's mix them and see what happens!" and I expect my listeners to have the same understand I do about how it works. I CAN'T do that by myself. It's something interesting to do, but apparently the excitement of creating something together with someone is not enough of a profit for some people?
I didn't miss your point, it is just obviously a double-standard in your eyes. I get the same effect from working with live musicians as musicians that sequence; it's the same fucking thing and if you and Renard or anyone doesn't get that, then I just can't associate with them because, well, they're fucking stupid. Your jazz/CD/dancemusic/whatever the fuck analogy you made was really stupid and contradicted itself and I hope you change that way of thinking because they're all the same fucking thing. A COLLABORATION.
I take music very seriously because I am very passionate about it, and not just electronic music, and definitely not just dance music. I'm not just talking about dance music, either so I don't know where that assumption came from. If you don't like that, or think I'm pretentious for it, well uh go fuck yourself I guess because yeah I totally am and love it hahahaha.
I don't see my music as simply 'dance music' but it's fine if you do, I just like repetition and rhythm and intense noises, it's as simple as that.
You could never do what I do and how I do it, which is why you're wrong. You couldn't work like any of the other refined musicians on here, so that opinion that you have about it is kind of fucking stupid.
And back to the main focus; I'm never offended if anyone doesn't want to collaborate with me, I was making fun of how people I associate with see Renard, which is that he tries to be like refined artists and comes off as a cheap, boring imitation. I don't like that and so I wanted to do a collaboration to disprove it. However, he refuses and we continue to mock him because he is seen as a scrub. That's what this picture was made to do.
okay so
MY summary: I'm not mad or anything at you, I just completely disagree with you and think you need to get into understanding that people are allowed to be serious about what they're passionate about. It's not all the same, as any means of artwork can have a refined aesthetic value. And you can fucking mix two electronic artist's styles and get a mix of the two that sounds interesting if they are good artists, which is why I like collaborating with electronic artists and any other artist as well but maybe you just don't get that yet, and I'm fine with that. Just know that you're wrong about that.
I like mechanical music, and I look to work with other artists that have an interesting sound so that when we blend our styles together, it's like a birth of a completely new sound yet it is able to be understood that the parties that worked on it have put their hearts into it.
Hopefully you get my views on this a little more now, as they are very different from yours.

"but maybe you just don't get that yet, and I'm fine with that. Just know that you're wrong about that." So, you bring up an opinion and say that I'm wrong for having that opinion. You must still be taking what I'm saying as a direct attack at you because you keep coming back saying that I am wrong about everything.
What I was trying to do was describe my pint of view and back up why you and Renard shouldn't be fighting over this subject; that some people do think differently. If someone doesn't collaborate with someone else, it doesn't mean that they don't like a person.
Basically, you two are always arguing at each other for one reason or another and I see no sense in it at all. I'm not trying to change your views and I'm not calling you wrong about anything; I'm trying to make you realise that Other people don't think like you and when they don't, don't go doing stuff to try and enrage them.
P.S: I know you guys have a lot of background to you, but argue to yourselves instead of continuing to try to publicly humiliate each other. If you two really respect your music scene then don't go shitting all over it by acting like something like this (either the original comment or the poster) is the biggest thing in the world.

It's hilarious because this is all I tried to say in my comment.
Flipping out and getting hurt feelings over someone not wanting to collaborate with you on a song reflects poorly on you, your products, and what you represent.
GHDA, alienfingers and I are actually trying to help you and knock some sense into you a little bit. You are acting like an egotistical little prick. If you want to resolve the situation, actually listen to what others are saying, why they may be saying that, and analyse your own behaviour.
Your silly little picture here isn't 'getting back at' Renard or anything; It just makes you look immature. Stop this stupid bullshit and go on creating your music. It's not that hard to understand. Be the bigger person and stop your half of the antagonization.

My feelings aren't hurt or anything, that's what I'm saying.
I can make fun of someone's repeated denials of collaborations towards people that I associate with if I want to.
I know I'm being immature and egotistical, that's what I do and man do I have fun doing it!!
I listen to every opinion and any advice that is offered to me, but it's not going to change the fact that it actually does show my image and personality, and I'm not being a pussy-ass fake motherfucker like most faggots in this community.
Being liked is not something I care about, but I get respect from the people I want to respect me and I respect them back.
I'm sorry you don't appreciate my sense of humor, but if you don't like it, then don't interact with me.

It comes off as different to people that won't like me, which is good because it keeps them out of my life so I don't get the associations that Renard has with his fanbase of having spergy TF2-meme spouting children and, well, just generally terrible fucking people.
You surround yourself with you who are, and by doing this, I don't get those kids shitting up the niches and communities that I'm a part of. I'm glad I scare them off.

Just a polite note; I'm not a Renard fanboy. His music has turned a direction as of late that isn't to my taste. I just like electronica.
I do think you're misinterpreting the image/attitude you're giving off here, but that's okay. Different people, different eyes. I'm not going to argue with you -- Just be aware that it makes you look very, very different than what you're passing this off as.

I never implied you were a Renard fanboy, nor do I hate all Renard fans, but many Renard fans (but not Renard) rarely think enough about interests that I really like, and if you don't think enough like me, you won't enjoy my music. And if you don't think like me enough to enjoy my music like I want you to, I'm most definitely not going to like you.
I hope that breaks it down for you and anyone else that reads this.
I'm very selfish, and I hope everyone knows that by now.
I also know that what I convey is how I want people to perceive me. I'm fine with you not liking it.

When it comes down to it, I enjoy how I do things, regardless if half the people who see me think I'm childish and half of them think I'm awesome.
All I said you were wrong about is your perception of what would make a good collaboration. Two or more parties putting work into one project is going to come out as an interesting blend of the styles of each party, regardless of medium.
I'm fine with what I do, and I appreciate any dissenting opinions but I am totally going to make fun of them.
