The Communications Console, located to the immediate right of the Interior Console, is primarily concerned with internal and external communiques. The Transtemporal Communicator and Recievers act as a telephone line across all space and time, allowing the pilot to speak with others from across universes, in another time zone, or even from the Vortex itself.
The Translation Matrix is used to translate languages for the benefit of the inhabitants.
The Emergency Escape Unit allows the TARDIS to escape immediate danger by temporarily transporting it into an empty pocket dimension.
The Visual Stabilizer controls the ambient light inside the Ship as well as allowing the inhabitants to view objects on the monitor which would otherwise be obscured by darkness. Similarly, the Linear Calculator allows its inhabitants to see things more clearly outside of the TARDIS, piggybacking along the Translation Matrix.
The Paradox Stabilizer allows objects and entities which have been, through various means, removed from the time stream, to survive inside the TARDIS.
The Temporal Gyros keep the TARDIS's interior from doing barrel rolls in the Vortex.
The Light, Heat, Humidity, and Gravity Controls do more or less what they say on the tin, controlling all those aspects of the TARDIS's interior.
