The Steering Console, located to the immediate right of the Safety Console and the immediate left of the Navigation Console, is mainly concerned with the manual piloting of the TARDIS.
The various Navigation Lights across the top row light up to indicate the Ship's position and current actions.
The Booster Switch is used to increase power to the engines in cases of particularly rough dematerializations.
The Dematerialization Switch is essential for a smooth takeoff.
The Shielding Control maintains a force field around the TARDIS, preserving it from attack. It also allows the TARDIS doors to be safely opened while in the vacuum of space.
The Speed Controls control how fast the TARDIS can fly.
The Gravity Controls are used to get the pilot accustomed to shifts in gravity on various different planets by gradually equalizing the interior and exterior gravities.
The Attitude Control is used to make the TARDIS fly.
