This case was a real Gordian knot: A speakeasy, the entrance hidden down a flight of steep stairs and behind a narrow doorway. The victim -- Azzone the Dog. The corpse had lots of issues -- five stab wounds, for starters, plus at least that many broken bones. Coroner's report came back just a few hours ago. No suspects as of yet. "That ain't good," I thought out loud, grabbing my revolver. But that wasn't even the half of it. The whole reason I took the case to begin with: trouble, in the shape of a blue-eyed vixen with an icy temperament to match, and getaway sticks that wouldn't quit. Wouldn't give her name, said she was related to Danny Morgan, but wouldn't say how. I only agreed, reluctantly, after Leonard "the Bull" McKinney personally vouched for her.
