Little commission for

streaksskunk

Finally gonna start posting these, sorry it took me so long.

I'm actually quite thrilled with how the black fur came out. It actually looks fairly black I think (at least it does irl), and I didn't once use a black pencil on it. Cools. x3

I hope it's acceptable. Lemme know what you guys think! :3

I used a grey colour for the background/paint layer, but to make it actually look black and not like a faded light grey, I used mostly blue pencil, with a dark brown to warm it up a bit. Turned into a rather decent looking black. :P

Looks great! I like it at least... The black looks awesome and interesting to look at, due to the multiple shades used. Lovely work! :3

Well, compared to your current avatar, your art is quite a bit... Erm... Higher quality I suppose. Maybe it's just the size, but your technique seemed to have changed from the avatar to your current art. Maybe it's just me though. :P

I think the scan might have come out just a shade on the light side. The color and vibrancy is pretty awesome, interesting lively and vibrant! But I mistook the fur color for a medium-dark silvery gray rather than black.

Naw, that's probably just the colouring. I honestly don't like the look of a really deep dark black, so I tend to intentionally make my blacks more of a suggested black than a real black. It really is sort of light, but to me at least, it doesn't look wrong or out of place, just like a different style sorta.

Beast, probably not. But I'm not sure why you can't see a pupil, it's right there, big and black and surrounded by blue. x3

I read in a comment above that you like to do a suggested black, and I can totally get down with that. I wouldn't mistake this for a gray character, it's obviously black, but doing it lighter does allow quite a bit more depth.

Something I pretty much picked up from the very first artist I ever started learning from, and haven't really changed since. It seemed to work so I stuck with it :P
