As the palace expanded more and more, Louis XIV found himself in need of a new country house: the Trianon was the result. At the Grand Trianon, all is organized the garden an extension of the chateau: there is only one floor, the peristyle allows one to see the garden from the courtyard, and the abundance of windows allows the gardens to be visible nearly everywhere. One gallery in the building even has paintings of the palace's gardens and groves in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
