"What is it you want from me?"
But it was his question of her. Fraulein had been dropping clear signals that she wanted him, going so far as dating him. But whenever Duke had tried to get close to her, Fraulein would only push him away. He'd suspected from the get go that she'd have a hard time getting emotionally close to anyone, but by now he'd had enough of her sharp-tongued rejections and he had no interest in being tied to a non-existent relationship. Now he caught her at her place of work at Sudden Desires, intent on getting an answer.
"You've been after me for the last few days and it's flattering, but I can't shake the feeling that it's not me you're after. So I'll ask you again: what exactly is it that you want?"
"I... I don't know," she said, turning away but he caught her serving tray. She looked back at him, fighting the tears forming in her eyes.
His eyes burned her, so strong yet filled with concern.
"Take me..." and after she said it, the rest poured out so easily. "Take me away from this place. I don't want to stay here anymore."
Started in the era of 3 AM and Morning After but I didn't have the technical prowess to do the lighting I wanted.
