This piece helped me work on a couple of things...

1) Lighting, mood lighting more specifically. Also I attempted to use multiple light sources, but I don't think I succeeded with that. On the bright side, I think I managed to push the values enough to make the setting convincing.
2) it's a new OC! This time one I've created myself. Apparently yesterday I was just feeling the edginess, and this character exemplifies that.
3) Taking breaks while working on a piece. I took a couple breaks while drawing this, mostly because I wasn't able to focus, but in the end it was a good thing because after taking an hour break from it, it helped me see the flaws and come back feeling fresh and ready to work hard on it.
