Chara couldn't help but stare as a rainbow of colours danced in front of their eyes in spiraling patterns without end. The Colours were warm and they made the human feel safe in a way that they hadn't felt in a long time. How...long had Chara been there? Staring at the colours as they pulsed and shifted? They couldn't remember...did that matter? They felt like it should but...
They began to wonder how they got here in the first place. It...it was hard to think straight, Chara felt...strange, like they were floating in a haze, surrounded by all of the warm wonderful colours. They pulsed and shifted and as Chara gazed stupefied awe. Slowly the memories began to trickle back. They'd...they'd had a plan...to release all the Monsters from the Underground, Chara hadn't told anyone except Asriel and even then The human hadn't told their foster brother exactly what they had been planning. Everything was going well, they had gotten the flowers they needed and were working up the nerve to follow through, when...Mom.....Toriel....she...somehow she'd found the journal....
It all fell apart after that, Chara'd been grounded, Mom and Dad....confiscated the flowers, gotten rid of every buttercup in the house and then... they...hadn't even been allowed to leave home without being supervised. They'd raged and pleaded with the two monsters. Humans were ugly and cruel, something Chara had learned firsthand from their birth family, It was the Monsters who had nursed them back to health and taught them how to love. Why couldn't they see that the human was doing this for them? To repay them for all of their kindness. To prove that they were worth all their affection. Chara couldn't understand, why did they CARE so much about them when they were descended from the worthless humans that trapped the Monsters here in the first place? So what if Chara died? So what if some other humans died?! They deserved it! It would be justice!
Mom and Dad just looked sad, and that hurt more than anything else.
The haze was getting heavier, the thoughts...slower, Chara....The Colours... They were...getting faster. The human realized with a start that they were all coming from a single point. a single spot of white....no not a spot, A SOUL....A monster's SOUL. Chara staggered forwards, unsure of their footing in this swirling rainbow that was the Humans world, their eyes locked on the SOUL. Their shoes suddenly felt tight, the human's feet were feeling so warm and tingly, like they were stretching...changing? his toes felt like they were flexing and merging together, A sudden tearing sound and the pressure on their feet was gone...That should matter, but The human couldn't bring themself to care, They couldn't tear their eyes away as the SOUL pulsed and swirled with all the colours of the rainbow....rainbow...rainbow? Something niggled at the human, something about rainbows....someone...someone was talking to them? They....could hear their voice but they couldn't make out the words. What was it about the rainbow, that was so familiar? Who was....talking to them? The Soul? Monster....Soul....Rain...bow.
"As...As...riel?" The name came unbidden, Chara felt so strange, The tingling warmth was back, The Human felt like they were being poked with a thousand needles all over their body. Something was pulling and tugging their body every which way, molding the human like a piece of putty "I'm here Chara." Was Chara shrinking? Their clothes seemed to be looser then they were a moment ago.... "I....fe...feel weird." Chara tripped and staggered forwards reaching out for something, anything to catch his fall. He reached out and grabbed something solid, and furry? And then Asriel was there holding his Soul out. He was the one making the Colours with his Magic!
"Whats.." Their voice! Something had happened to their voice, it was higher...no not higher, younger? W-w-what's happening...to me?" was Chara getting younger? What was happening? Why couldn't they look away? Why didn't they care?! "Don't panic Chara, We're all right here, everything is ok." Chara felt a tugging on their ears which began stretching and tingling, their nose twitched, and right in front of his eyes, the beginnings of a muzzle began to form, a light dusting of brown fur growing as Chara's face began to tingle. "Mom and Dad didn't realize just how badly hurt you were in the Human world, the doctors don't understand enough about human psyc...psychology? To help you get better. So everyone decided that there was only one way to help you." Suddenly Chara understood, "You...your turning me....into a Monster?" Something flashed in edge of Chara's vision, their soul was out, resonating with Asriels. "Mom and Dad are, I'm just helping to keep you calm, this'd be hurting a lot more if I wasn't." Chara swayed on unfamiliar feet, in an unfamiliar body. "Why? Why are... you doing this...for me? Why am I getting..." Asriel smiled down at the now younger Chara, "Because you're my best friend, and my brother, Chara. When we're done, your going to have a second chance, a fresh start." The brown furred boss monster looked up at his older brother, tears forming in his eyes, "w...will I forget?" Chara's eyelids began to feel heavy, they...they felt so tired. "No my Child, You're SOUL will stay the same, the memories will still be there, but they wont hurt you anymore." Mom? ""Sleep my child, and when you wake it will be as if it was all just a bad dream." As Chara's eyes flickered closed and sleep finaly began to claim the little boss monster, they started to tip backwards into the strong arms of their father. "We love you so much Chara, never think otherwise, you are worth more to us than you will ever know."
