... I dunno why I do this to myself but here we are. *big sigh of relief* It's finally done... after working on it off and on for two months and struggling with the flu throughout January, it's finally done. no regrets, no regrets..
I realized last year that I was so focused on getting plot related content finished up that Neelix and Heather kinda took a back seat, both in art and in the recent chapter. I especially kept giving Heather and Gale a lot of time together which I kinda sorta suspect might be frustrating to some. Maybe. I promise you Neelix is equally frustrated... and I am working on solving this issue. ;____;
So... we got Heather sharing one of her human movies with Neelix. Instead of watching it on her tiny phone, they uploaded it to his own data pad. Alternate title: Earthflixs & Chill.
Many chapters ago I wrote them sharing a movie together for the first time - oddly back then I never bothered to really think about what that movie actually was and wasn't expecting anyone to ask. I kept it vague so the audience could fill in whatever they wanted. I thought this time around I could make it a little more specific and a little more personal to them and decided on the movie Middle of the Night (1959), as I had just seen it for the first time not too long before starting this illustration. If it wasn't obvious, I'm kind of a big sap for the whole love is love thing and not letting differences stand in the way, so that movie particularly hit me.
This scene is a different one, though - not the one first featured in the story. I imagine Heather has a wormhole of space on her phone so she can conveniently share all kinds of content with Neelix on a regular basis, and he's happy to do so, just glad to spend time with her any way he can. ❤
