wip screenshot or a background I am working on for a commission. This is about 1/3 of the image. I have since done more work to it! I am hoping to have the completed images posted next weekend!

This is just a suggestion, but:
Does your version have decent brush settings? The best way for me, to do grass without it looking "copy/pasted"/cookiecutter, is if you open the brush settings and turn on colour jitter between the foreground and background colours only (select your main grass colour for foreground and then one a bit darker than your main grass colour), and it'll alternate and blend the grass really well, and make some blades darker and lighter and inbetween.
Also set the brush to "angle jitter" a bit, so it just ever so slightly rotates the brush at a slight angle to give it a more free and natural growing grass look rather than straight up and down and jagged. I'm not sure if this is making sense.
I also do size jitter on top of it so some blades are smaller and some larger once again for a realistic feel, and set the brush to scatter.
On second thought, you inspired me to do a grass tutorial. 😳 XD

I am looking into a newer PS program right now. I can't find anyway to edit the brush settings so I have to download brushes to get different effects. Mostly just vegetation brushes I want to experiment with and a good cloud brush. On Clip Studio I can change settings but the grass brushes I have are sub par compared to the one I have in PS elements 6. I have an can draw grass by hand but it takes ages XD I does look better tho. I am still trying to work out the background. Its been a while since I've drawn a nature background.
