A newcomer decided to come along and order up an image of Mordecai and Rigby donning their signature wressling outfits. That gave me the pleasure of drawing Mad Man Mordo facing off against his arch nemesis, the mysterious Mr. R.

While I have drawn Mordecai a couple of times before, (This is like my fifth drawing of the guy, go figure) this serves as my first attempt at illustrating Rigby. I have to say, I was pretty taken aback by the design differences between two characters in the same series. Outside of the eyes and lower torso structure, there really isn’t a whole lot of design overlap between the two.

Rigby’s small hands feet alongside his fluffy exterior was in stark contrast to Mordecai’s absolutely massive mitts streamlined frame. As a result, I could not apply much of what I learned doing Mordecai to his partner in crime, which is very odd for characters so closely linked in the same franchise. That slowed me down a bit, but it was all fun in the end.

With this one completed, I get to knock another character off of my “Never Drawn” list, so that is an accomplishment in and of itself. (Does Rigby and Mysterious Mr. R count as two characters?) Thanks a bunch to my buyer for ordering this image. It’s always great when new people come to commission me. I love the prospect of working on new things and ideas, it keep s me on my toes.
