Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Vile P.1
Original lineart done by

cecaeliafanatic with the shading and some background details.
Man, this pic has taken forever. Been working on it for . . . not sure. At least a week, maybe week and a half, although Ed only recently submitted all the sketches. Still, this came out pretty good I think. I don't know if I'll tinker more with the shading later, but I gotta get this finished and move on. This pic represents a lot of advancements in technique from me, although most of them are invisible. I knew, for example, that there was a way to do shading that would let me not have to worry about doubling lines to cover up where the shadows (or alternate colors) met the edges. Problem is, I'd assumed it was through masks. Turns out, no, it's done through sub-layers. Now, I can add secondary colors and shadows to things without needing to worry about it messing up lines. This saves a LOT of time. Like, at least two minutes every time I have to do this. That'll make doing morphing effects a lot easier, not to mention how much more quickly shading will go. I've also found out how to use some of the raster tools in Affinity to disguise layering issues much more easily, which means it should be much easier to draw figures that exist in more than one layer at a time. Hopefully, all of these will speed up my drawing speed enough that I can start getting better output.
Anyway, here Princess Zelda is having a run in with the Arcane Toad, a monster I created. Falling victim to its poisonous breath, she should soon start feeling the effects. Guess she shouldn't have gone exploring in the Lost Woods by herself.
