All toddlers come to delight in discovering the full potential of their bodies. There are just so many wonders to explore that truly make each day extra special. This is further reinforced by admiring mommies and daddies who feel just as excited as their child in coming to delight in ‘The Big Wide World’.
On this occasion, Yosh had tripped over his own feet while scampering after his friend, Lanny. This would normally result in a bit of crying from the ‘scare’ along with ‘boo-boo’. However this time was different.
The dino-duck, wearing his favorite socks, booties, and happy-sunny t-shirt and duck-print diaper, , had slammed both of his palms firmly down upon the floor. The tears were about to come until he made a most amazing discovery.
“What’s back there?” he thought upon noticing how their was something ‘topsy-turvy’ between his belly and the floor.
The young otter, Lanny, returned to see Yosh on all-fours wiggling about and bobbing his head.
“Potty…?” asked Lanny curiously.
“No potty,” struggled the plump and padded dino-duck as he worked to spread his legs, raise his backside, and support himself enough to get a clear look at the upside-down world that existed between himself and the floor.
Lanny appeared confused as he tugged at his baby-blue colored shirt in which had ‘There’s no otter mother better than my mother otter’.
Leon, an ebon-scaled dragon with a pink tummy, ear fins, and clad in a plain-white diaper waddled in on the scene.
“Potty…?” he asked while doing a little check on the status of his own diaper.
Yosh just continued to ensure he was 100% balanced. This meant no answer was given outside of grunts and groans of frustration and determination.
“He say no,” stated Lanny. “Maybe having trouble go potty?”
Leon pondered as a diaper-clad, white Unicorn with green eyes came upon the scene.
“Go potty?” she asked with more certainty than Leon and Lanny.
Yosh had just about had his body in such a way that would allow him to safely see that mysterious place that was topsy-turvy between his belly and the floor.
Leon shrugged.
“Think so,” he said. “But Lanny say no.”
The Unicorn with emerald-colored eyes took a moment to think about how he almost looked like a pony in his current position.
“Oh!” she cheered. “I know what he doing!”
Lanny and Leon gazed curiously at the Unicorn foal.
“Watch!” she squeaked while parting her front and back hooves slightly, raising her tail, and dipping her head so she could look at the topsy-turvy world that extended past her diaper. “Upside down fun!”
The Unicorn was positioned opposite of Yosh. So this allowed her to see the dino-duck finally succeed in getting to see the amazing ‘upside-down world’ that stretched past his parted legs and duck-print diaper.
“Hello!” giggled the foal while smiling towards Yosh’s peering head. “You go upside-down!”
The young dino-duck couldn’t help but giggle as his view was that of their newest friend, Sweetie Lover, who now looked very different from how he was used to seeing her.
“You look silly!” he quacked as he started to lose his balance.
“You silly, too!” she giggled in response.
FWA-FWUMP
Yosh could no longer keep his balance and was now staring up at Lanny’s mom, Moriah.
“Hi!” he greeted with a big smile and sapphire-eyes that fully showed how totally amazed he was at his new discovery.
“Now aren’t you two just adorable,” the mother cooed while lifting up Yosh to make sure this wasn’t a messy situation that she had walked into. Fortunately it was not.
Sweetie returned to her standard posture and looked up at Lanny’s mom.
“We go upside-down!” she squeaked. “Is fun!”
Lanny and Leon looked at each other as both saw how much Yosh struggled to do what the Unicorn made appear all too easy
“It’s heartwarming to see all you kids making new discoveries in this ‘big wide world’ we all share.
All the excitement made Lanny completely unaware that he had a ‘loaf of bread’ ready to leave the ‘oven’.
“Potty!” the three other children announced as their otter friend hunched over to finish the ‘delivery’ of his ‘brown bread’ into his ‘bread basket’.
Moriah saw a smile on her son’s face as he ‘shut down the oven’ and left his ‘baked goods’ settle in their ‘packaging’.
“Feel better?” cooed Moriah as she scooped up her son. “That’s my little chef in the making!”
Leon, Yosh, and Sweetie were confused by the food related ways in which Moriah often referred to her son’s diaper-filling activities. None of them wanted to try that ‘bread’ Lanny baked as all were very familiar from being told to keep their hands, claws, and hooves out of their diapers on what was really packed in the back of the little otter’s diaper. The smell also did not match what they knew as ‘bread’.
“Alright, children!” called Moriah. “It’s naptime and I don’t want to hear any complaining. Just happy faces eager to get comfy-cozy so nobody is a grumpy-butt when your parents come for you.”
Sweetie, Leon, and Yosh all looked at each other with puzzled expressions. How can a butt be grumpy when it is safely inside their diapers? Though this statement wasn’t as confusing as being told they ‘had their grumpy pants on’ as, well, a diaper was a diaper and ‘pants’ were put over the diaper. So where were these pants that would be grumpy if they didn’t take their naps, do as they were told, etc.?
“Okee!” acknowledged Yosh as the strain from his mission to discover topsy-turvy world had completely worn him out.
“Behind you!” added Leon as a ‘train’ was created with Lanny and Moriah as the engine and Sweetie being the ‘caboose’.
What new discoveries awaited the children after awaking from their naps? No doubt many as they continue to learn and grow within their ‘big wide world’.

The story, to me, needed a bit more 'character' to live up to what I've heard while watching Peep And The Big Wide World via Amazon Prime. So Leon seemed a great addition along with our newest pal, 
sweetielover. (Though I may have goofed as I do not know if they have an OC outside of their adorable take on sweetie Belle)

*Blush* Well, to be honest, I wanted to keep the story as PG as possible while putting in a spot of humor to lead to the end. Plus, from what I've watched, it is in theme of Peep And The Big Wide World in how a narrator would use certain words to clue the audience in enough to 'get the idea' without going too deeply into a situation.
There are a lot of good episodes from that show. The one I attached with the story is from my favorite pair of episodes. This being 'Quack, Quack' and its follow-up. (If you have basic Amazon Prime you can watch two seasons of the show, if you are interested)
I enjoyed developing this picture into a 'discovery story'. This is what opened the door to pick some random pals to join in on the fun. Each character would have their own way of looking at the world around them while also have some similar ideas, too. However the heart of the tale is Yosh learning something amazingly new while also showing how easy a quadraped, like Sweetie Lover, finds the activity. :)
I always strive to do good with your gift art in making stories. It's the least I can do to return the favor / kindness. I hope this story is a great compliment to the art you drew. :)
