A birthaversarry gift celebrating the second year of  ChelfieNoodles ‘s koi boys Ami and Iam, in which I experiment with style a bit. I’ve always been a fan of the awkward earnestness of medieval European artwork so I looked to a lot of Anglo Saxon and Iranian bestiary illustrations for inspo. This is my take on it, incorporating some line shading from later woodcut art.
