Okay, I always thought that my mic would turn to sh*t just because I got too loud. Today I tried to record a rather simple classical art song by Tito Mattei (1841-1914) and it was awful. If I get even above my mF my mic wigs out. It is the stock mic built into the macbook so I'm not shocked or anything but this has made it clear that I need an actual vocal, recording mic. Does anyone have ANY suggestions (please only tell me about stuff you have actually used, I can google too. :3)
Thank you

rode NT-1A you can pick it up at guitar center for like 250. Other than that, I have a realistic cardioid that picks up instruments pretty damn well but can do vocals. yeah, Your voice would sound way better one some decent mic. There is so much good music on FA that is recorded on shitty mac book mics:/ someone needs to start a charity. Mics for tunes or something.
I do like your singing here though:)

Wow, your pronunciation is pretty good! Being Italian I can't say it's excellent, but you make everything up with your wonderful tone and expression. Shame about the recording, here the distortion is more noticeable, I suggest standing further from the microphone if possible (though I have no idea how that works for laptop mics)
If you'd like I can recommend you an excellent (and not so expensive) microphone , it's not the one I use (I opted for an expandable field recorder), but for you I'll go and record two things at the house of an (ex) sound engineer who lives here and I'll give you the microphone's name. If you'd like that, just send me a note with your e-mail and I'll send you an example or two as well as a few recommendations.
