Trees of varying sizes stood erect on both sides, straddling the one lane dirt road between them. Beyond them, fields stretched out and rolled along with the hills. Deer would poke their heads from the tall grass before being stirred up from the hum of the engine and taking off. Above them glints of orange and black flickered in the dying light as monarchs fluttered about. In that moment it was as if time stood still as they both looked heavenward in awe.
