Springtide: The Regressive World Setting Guide
So a bit back, I came up with the idea of an age regression based world that regresses you to a young child whenever you enter it. It's an idea I've played with in a few stories, but this time wanted to make something more well defined and bigger. So, I started writing out some of my ideas for them...
And it kept coming...
And coming...
And coming...
And then I had over 60 pages. So I was like, ok, this setting is sticking around! So I'll be using this in multiple stories and RPs, and will probably commission a few pics around it, maybe if I'm lucky I can get other people to pick up the world and start using it too. n.n
Anyway... Springtide is an alternate dimension that exists as a nexus between many worlds, making it possible to get there from just about anywhere. However, as soon as you arrive you'll find yourself regressed to four years or younger and none of your adult clothing fitting anymore. Despite how young you may become, you'll find yourself quite capable in this world, as all of Springtide seems to run on a child's logic, as if it was all one big game of pretend, but somehow it's all real. Be warned though, if you possess any powers magical or otherwise, they will not function for the duration of your stay and any electronic devices will fail to function. However, Springtide has its own rules of magic and technology, and those who can be creative can wield incredible powers.
There's a ton of adventure to be had in Springtide! But be careful, for you may not leave as you came. Many magics and items have the ability to physically transform you, altering your species and size. But somehow, nothing here can truly hurt you beyond that, and there are 17 regions in this world full of treasure just waiting to be claimed.

So canonically, there aren't aren't any diapers in Springtide at all, and thanks to body enhancements everyone even newborns are potty trained.
But I mean, it's not like you have to match perfect canon if you're wanting to play around with this setting in an RP or stuff with friends, do what makes ya happy.

typo: and a secret passage into the att(a)ck opens up.
-attick!
idea:
:item: animal paint: By covering anybody with such paint, you can change them into creature drawn on label. It could be washed away with rain or shower (strange, but swimming does not work).
::malfunction: only half of body is covered.

Will get that fixed when I update versions, as likely going to add two new chapters, example Phantoms and Example Treasures.
And yup, that's an item that could work! I wasn't planning to add anymore items to the doc, as literally just about anything can be made in this world, had just wanted to create a few examples to get people's ideas rolling when they play with the setting.

I also had some ideas for other effects of Springtide, feel free to us all, some or none of this.
When arriving, other than increased strength and resilience a visitor's body becomes normal for a child of one's species if their circumstances make them less so. (Those who are nearsighted have normal vision, those who are paralyzed to any degree aren't and limbs that are missing appear whole), these changes revert on leaving Springtide. Unusual natural traits for one's species, an extra tail for example, would be unchanged.
While in Springtide a visitor hears all speech and reads all text as their own language (except Bloopdoop). No one is sure if Springtide is changing visitors perceptions or actually changing the sounds and words since outside technology and magical items that can record such things won't work and any sort of recording in Springtide (writing, drawing, or photos made from cardboard cameras) make things appear normal from the point of view of the one making them on removing it from Springtide or go blank completely if made from magic and technology instead of just crayons and markers. One rumor is that while all language is understood as one's native tongue all spoken language in Springtime (with the aforementioned exception of Bloopdoop) is actually closer to baby babble and any writing is really scribbles but like with magic and technology the creativity and imagination is what is conveying the ideas rather than sounds and writing.

I think better would be not auto-heal, but a Visitor can be easy fixed with magic or tech. If you changed into a cat and be remain a cat in outside world, the same should happen with regrowing limbs. Of course, natural aging effects are exception.
Yes, language problems are explained well.

What I found now in metagame: there are slight scaly disbalance.
* I think, eggression has not be limited to reptiles, there are a lot of creatures hatched from eggs, p******s for example. I think it would be better to hatch any random creature, even humans (except, of course, special cases).
* there have to be more states except egg/micro. for example: stone, plant, ball. Of course, everything like this is for a day only.

I love this so much. I won't very much like to explore it. I have a few questions.
I know you said certain baby items like diapers don't exist in this world, but could you use magic to conjure them?
Can you cast transformation/ regression/ Eggression spells on yourself?
Is there a way to cast magic if you are too young or in a form that can't speak?
What happens if you carry a magical item that is conscious or contains souls into Springtide?
Sorry if that's a lot of questions.

First one, canonically there aren't diapers in Springtide, as they're just a trope that I personally detect so made a conscious effort to exclude them. Having said that, just cause I can't stand something doesn't mean others aren't allowed to do it or have to follow all the rules I set. This is how I prefer it, but if you're having fun playing around with it with friends or something you do you.
Second, you can absolutely cast spells on yourseslf.
Third, for babies that can't speak, not an issue, as magic words can be gibberish. What's important is that the person believes in the magic words, or in this case sounds they're making. For that same reason, ferals who can't talk could also use spells. I suppose, even if someone was mute they could also probably pull it off by saying the words in their head too.
Fourth, conscious magical items I had... not really considered. Hmmmm, I could see a few things going down based on the conditions and context. If it was an actual person stuck inside or transformed into an item, I imagine they'd be changed back to an organic body due to Springtide's protective nature. Were it an item that was always an item though, then it might just turn into a kiddy version of itself, (example sword to wood sword) that steal changes back when it leaves. Though... It might be fun to instead have all sentient items get organic life... I imagine a 1,000 year old magic sword would have a rather interesting time if they suddenly found themselves as a baby fox.

This sounds rather fun.
So, a number of the scenarios you describe, where people will be transformed or shrunk by faeries or unique phantoms, sound more lasting than being transformed by another visitor. Like being stuck as a faerie's pet for 10 years.
But does the same rule apply that these effects won't stick if they would cause duress? Like, it could be fun to be a pet for a few days perhaps, but no necessarily as a one-way path to becoming a faery.

Correct, no one is capable of breaking the rule about duress.
Basically, think of the entire world as one big game, and if someone doesn't want to play anymore because it's upsetting them, then they're not forced to. I know letting anyone no sell TFs they hate might ruin some of the fun, but part of the trick is that the world has its own conscious that actively protects its inhabitants both physically and emotionally.
And since the entire world runs on child logic, a lot of the punishments are the types of rumors kids would spread on the playground about the terrible things that will happen if you do this thing, and well... child logic is real here so it really happens!

Your true form is what you perceive your true form as rather than what you were born as. So, if say, a human who happens to be a furry goes there, and gets turned into a raccoon kid, and then they just 100% believe the raccoon kid is the true form for them, not the human, then absolutely raccoon kid would be treated as their default true form.
If you believe that benig regressed would devolve you, then you would. If you don't believe it, then you would become a younger version of your current evolution. Basically, how tied is your evolution to what you picture as your adulthood.
As for re-evolving, I don't see any reason why not. The conditions to do it may even be more lax if you believe you're going to evolve.
The power of belief and personal image is a very powerful thing in Springtide.

Super fun and cute, once I'd found this place I'd ditch my clothes and never look back!
I'd wanna explore everywhere I could so odds are I'd wanna live nomadically because of that!
The Fey Woods sounds like an absolute dream though so I'd probably get help from the (lovely, talented) builders and make a cozy base on the edge of the woods I could always come home to.
Eggression sounds surprisingly pleasant and nice, I wouldn't mind trying it.
Something regarding that I think I'd really like though is having a friend of mine get eggressed and taking care of their egg while waiting on them to hatch. I feel like it'd be a nice way of letting them feel how much I care about them if that ain't weird sounding.
I feel like I'd enjoy being 3 years old the most in this heheh, but I'd be open to being younger. This is one of the very few times I'd been genuinely interested in being a baby lol?
One last thought: Louie'd love casting magic through singing and dancing. :3 I feel like he'd erratically swing around a conductors baton like a wand to pull it off.
I'm real late but I love how this setting sounds quite a lot, I'm happy I found this. ^.^
Scuse how much I wrote though, gosh, I just kept getting cute ideas while I read is all. :p
