I drew this to show my art skill improvement over a decade.
This is a redraw of a fake pokemon I made when I was 9. I called my fake pokemon "LX" and made 200+ LX cards as a kid.
Peppy is an LX that can be any type, and has a different color scheme depending on the type. So water-types were blue, grass-type were green, electric was yellow, etc. The gray/black areas were always the same. This is a fire-type Peppy, so it's red. Fire Peppys live on volcanoes. They protect their eggs in the basket-like cradle on their head. They can tuck their wings into the pouch on their back. And of course, they have very long tongues :P

For this redraw I really wanted to show Peppy as playful and energetic. I always imagined them that way, so I wanted to reflect it. And it's nice to feel like I am bringing my ideas to life more than I could before. Past me would have loved to make something like this. :3
Maybe I will redraw more LX in the future. There are a bunch of them, some more original than others xD
