“Retur...n...oh no..” The realization slowly clicked in Joey’s mind as he realized what Kabegami was referring too. He grit his teeth as there was a painful pinching starting to build up above his rear. “Ow, ow, OW!” Joey suddenly gave a small howl of pain.
“Easy there Joey; just relax and don’t fight it.” Kabegami said as a few of the cats around Joey gave a few cries of concern. “I think those garments might be hindering the process a bit, and causing your discomfort. Maybe I can do something to help?” She asked and moved around Joey.
“PLEASE! Leave my...pants...ALONE!” Joey yelped as he tried to turn and look back at Kabegami, and then at his rear. A small gasp escaped escaped Joey as he was watching a small bulge starting to slowly grow bigger and painfully press against his pants. His ears flicked a bit as his keener hearing was detecting the straining sounds of the fabric as the threads were slowly being stretched against their capacity of the growing mass.
Joey grabbed the sides of his pants and tried to lower them down past the mass. A high pitched yelp escaped him as a sharp bolt of pain formed from there and spread out from his body. “Ow…” Joey winced and hissed through clenched teeth. A growl of annoyance came out of his throat as he shot a look back at Kabegami. “Don’t...touch.” he said in a warning tone to the cat.
Kabegami sighed and rolled her eyes. “Easy there..” She said in a calming tone and looked at the lump as it got a bit bigger. “See? This is why we don’t bother with clothing.” She sighed and kept looking. Her eyes darted up at Joey and she held up a paw. “Look, just trust me, I will keep your modesty, in tact and help you, okay? Let me do this and you should feel better in no time.”
Joey kept growling a bit as he stared at her, but then sighed and nodded. “Fine.” He said in a blunt tone and looked away, not daring to watch. Joey clenched his teeth tightly and shut his eyes as he braced himself and waited for whatever Kabegami would do.
“Man, so testy. You are acting like a wounded animal here.” She chuckled and sat on her haunches again. “This will be over before you know it. Also, if you are a good girl, I will give you a lollipop.” kabegami raised her paw and extended her claws. “You might feel a slight...JOLT!” She cried and swiped her paw right under Joey’s problematic area.
Another canine yelp escaped joey’s mouth; It was so loud he could barely hear the sounds of his pants getting sliced. ”WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOoooor?” Joey asked as relief quickly washed over him. Joey;s body wobbled a bit and he quickly kneeled down to keep himself from falling over. “Thank..you.” A small smile escaped him as he gave an exhale of relief.
“You’re welcome. Now your beautiful tail will not be hindered.” Kabegami said happily as she watched with a smile.
“Right, the tail.” Joey sighed as he was hesitant to look back, but he could still feel the weight of it increasing as it was slowly growing out. One more groan of annoyance escaped him as he finally went to look back and see what it looked like.
Joey’s eyes widened a bit as he was amazed at what he saw. “Whoa..” he said with a surprised whisper.
“I knew you would like it.” Kabegami giggled as her ears picked up on his whisper.
“Well I..I..” Joey would watch his tail wag in a bit of glee as he saw the black tipped, white, fluffy tail grow longer. “Hey, hey cut that out!” He cried and tried to grab the appendage as it wagged more and more.
"Tails never lie, my friend.” Kabegami giggled as the small stump grew out. She saw a few streaks of black mix in with the wispy white fur. “Now you should be able to access your powers and divine intervention.”
“Yeah well this thing is definitely wrong!” Joey cried out in denial as he gave a small shudder to the alien experience of the new appendage. Slowly he let go and let it droop down. The long, wispy fur was hovering just above the ground. “Um, STAY!” he commanded the fluffy appendage.
“How adorable.” Kabegami giggled.
“Yeah whatever..” He grumbled as it stood still for the time being. “So I have powers again with this ta...il…” Joey’s mouth quickly went slack as his eyes widened in horror. Moegami’s words suddenly echoed in his head.
“Oh I am sure that will be fixed as well. Perhaps when you grow your tail? Lose something in the front, but grow something behind you?” A whimper escaped Joey as he recalled those words. He quickly turned away from Kabegami and went to pat the area between his legs.
“Please still be there..” he whimpered as his tail drooped between his legs.
“Something the matter my lupine friend?” Kabegami chuckled, though a bit puzzled with Joey’s current actions.
“None of your...business.” Joey said with a bit of relief as he patted the area several times and still felt something familiar that was behind his ripped pants. ‘Whew, still...got it.” His tail rose up and once again wagged happily. Feeling the movement Joey looked back and gave a snort. “This thing has a mind of its own..” He grumbled.
“If that is the case, you two better learn how to work together. Like I said, that is the source of your powers. Now then..” she cleared her throat and started to walk off to a doorway, “...please follow me.” she called back. The large group of cats followed with her.
Joey watched Kabegami and all the cats empty into the new room; leaving him alone for the time being. “Um, okay..” he sighed a bit and walked into the new room.
Joey shot a quick look around as he took in his surroundings. It was large and circular, like the previous room, but did not have any furniture. Instead it was filled with various items like vases, boxes, small cat statues and other assorted junk all over the place.
“Welcome to my storage room. I figured this would be better for our game than the main room. I know it’s a bit cluttered; you can say I am a bit more of a pack rat than Tachigami.” She giggled.
“Yes, ha ha…” Joey said a bit unamused with her humor. “So then let’s cut to the chase, all I need to do is catch you?” he asked. He could feel his tail give a slight sway behind him.
“Yes yes, those are the conditions..” She sighed a bit and shook her head as her joke failed to make Joey even chuckle. “My friends will keep the time. She looked over to the side.
Joey turned to look with her, and was slightly surprised to see two cats standing next to a rather large hourglass. “How are they going to flip that?” He asked a bit puzzled.
Kabegami chuckled as she heard that. “Don’t underestimate my cats. They are more than meets the eye. I am sure you have seen that already earlier today?”
“True, true…” Joey agreed as he remembered them bringing him tea and cleaning up the mess.
“Now then, and questions before we begin?” Kabegami said as she sat on her haunches and looked up at Joey.
“Um, I just need to catch you, right? That is it?” Joey asked with a raised eyebrow. “No other conditions for my victory?” He looked at the cat with a raised eyebrow.
“That’s right. Just catch me.” Kabegami chuckled. “Now then, if we are ready, BEGIN THE GAME!” Kabegami cried. A loud gong sound rang from behind Joey.
Joey quickly covered his ears and looked behind him. He saw two cats standing next to a gong that was still swaying a bit from being swung. Laying on the ground in front of them was a large mallet. “How did..?” He quickly looked over and saw the hourglass was flipped and sand was starting to pour down “When did..?” Joey pulled his hands away from his ears and looked back to where he last saw Kabegami and saw she was quite farther away than before.
“Better hurry up if you want to win, AMATERASU!” She laughed at poor Joey.”Time is ticking.”
“Alright, come here you feline!” Joey started to run for Kabegami. He smirked a bit, but then a yelp of pain escaped him as he was struck in the back and knocked to the ground. A groan escaped him. “What the hell was that?” he groaned and looked around. He saw a box near him that he knew was not there before. Joey quickly looked all around the room, and saw nothing but Kabegami’s cats; just staring and watching him intently.
“Tick tock, tick tock! Better hurry or your chances at being human again are going to set like the evening sun!” She laughed.
Joey’s attention quickly turned back to Kabegami as a small growl escaped him. “Oh, I am going to get you fur ball.” he quickly pushed himself back up and gave his body a quick shake. He ran for Kabegami once again, but this time he caught sight of a vase flying right at him out of the corner of his eye. Joey yelped and quickly jumped out of the way. He could just barely feel the porcelain brush past him as it flew by and landed on the floor with a shatter.
“I thought you said there was no catch!” he cried and once again got up from the ground.
“No catch madam. Like I said, just catch me. I never said the task would be easy or not.” She giggled.
“No catch my furry behind! Your friends are assaulting me!’ He snorted and started to be fully on guard as he looked all around and waited for something else to be flung at him.
“So then do something about it.” She shrugged her shoulders. “Or your behind will be forever furry.” She blew a raspberry at Joey. “You should know what you need to do.”
“What do I need to...do?” Joey looked all around and then his gauze fell back on his tail. It wagged a few times and kicked up a small amount of dust. Slowly the gears in his head would start to turn “Oh that is what I need to…” Joey was cut off as a small vase flew and smacked him right on the head. A loud yelp escaped him as he felt around his face “GA! ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME!? He snarled and looked around, spooking a few of the cats.
“Trial by fire my furry friend.” She snickered. “Also you are able to take a lot more punishment so a few things here and there might hurt a lot; but nothing we are doing is going to flat out kill you.”
“Thanks.” He said flatly and rubbed the area he was struck. “Darn cat…” he huffed and saw Kabegami was still watching him. “Okay fur ball, YOU’RE MINE!” he snarled a bit and growled as he sprinted forward once more. “SPEED OF THE SUN!” He cried and tried to remember his speed from when he ran from Kazegami.
“Hmm? Oh that won’t do you much good here.” She giggled as several more vases and small cat statues went flying at Joey.
A small yelp escaped him as he dove to the side to avoid the attack. “CLOSE ONE!” he cried and tried to pick himself back up.
“Speed is only good if you have the room to use it. Try as you want, your speed will be stopped at every attempt you try.” She giggled. “But you better hurry and pick up the pace, time is running out. Look at the clock if you want, that might leave you open for another assault.” She licked her arm and proceeded to groom her face a bit.
“OH BE QUIET!” He snarled and brushed himself off. He looked all around as he tried to anticipate the next assault. His eyes fell back to his tail. “Okay, okay I need to use you...somehow..” He racked his brain as he figured out how he would use his abilities.
“Try standing sideways!” Kabegami giggled. “The right pose might help you. “Or you could also get down on all fours as well. The proper stance and posture might help your artistic abilities come forth.”
“I am NOT getting down on all fours you annoying feline!” Joey scoffed. He did try standing sideways; His tail swished at the ready “Okay, okay need to figure out how to do this…” He thought about it several times. Curiously he grabbed his new tail and tried to hold it closer to the blackened tip.
“Hmm? Think that will work? Worth a shot I suppose. Also, look out to your left.” Kabegami pointed as two vases went flying at Joey.
Joey narrowed his eyes as he watched the vases fly at him. “Okay, Take, THIS!” Joey cried as he slashed the air in front of him with his tail. Time seemed to freeze for a moment as He watched in anticipation about what would happen. Unfortunately for poor Joey, nothing happened and the vases slammed right into him, With one striking him right on the head.
Joey yelped as the pottery shattered once again and wobbled a bit in a small daze. “Ug, OW!” He cried and everything seemed to be blurry as things seemed to be spinning around him. “Uuuggg, can we call a timeout?” Joey cried as he held his head and his vision slowly restored.
“Sorry, time only ends when it’s up. Nice attempt with the tail, I think you might have almost had it.” She smirked. “Just concentrate! You know what you need to do so do it!”
“I don’t think I know much anymore since your servants keep giving me concussions!” Joey spat a bit and looked around a few times. “Could I just have a moment to breath without getting worried by being pelted with something?” Joey pleaded.
Kabegami tapped her chin with her pat a few times and chuckled “Sure, I can grant you that.” She cleared her throat. “CHILDREN! Please hold the assault until he moves from his spot!” She cried out. “There, you have a moment until you take a step forward.” She chuckled.

The tail Joey is going to tell, keeps getting longer.
