Another shot, last one I promise! The green one was store bought about 20 years ago, and is the EXACT same scale. It goes to show how big these monsters were in Real Life.
and yes, they are the same scale because they both are on the HO track scale, and the wheel sets ( black has 2 sets and green has 1) are the EXACT same size =3
Everything on the train moves, I painted it to match my dads train set hes working on.
a few fun facts, the Big Boy locomotive was the largest steam train ever built in the world. It was designed to push other locomotives up the rocky mountains I believe. Only 13 were built, and in 2 series, 7 series 1 and 6 series 2. At that point, diesel locomotives were being introduced and proved to be more powerful than previous engines.
EDIT: To clear things up;
The Green one was NOT built by me. This is a electric train meant to run on the HO Scale train tracks and was store bought 20 years ago (in otherwords, its no longer comerically availible.) I'm posting the Black One because not only did I paint it myself to make it my own, but its displaying the fruits of my labor. Its still considered a Work In Progress though.

sorry about that, usually most modelers refer to them that way no matter what size track thety run on but yeah I see what you mean.
More than likely seeind as how he got it 20+ years ago, it is an old Manuta or Rivarrosi/AMH judging by the detail old paint color. I'm a bit of a railroad nut so I'm up to speed on this stuff lol

saw that, looks really nice ^^ The J Class one you painted yellow, looks like it may need a touchup, but I also noticed some wheels missing so I assume it iswas a WIP ^^
What I do for those fine ledges was I bought a new brush set, took a small brush and used hardly any paint. Meticulous detail and care on em, and worked slowly and hard for the edges, its a bit difficult to explain.
keep up the good work on yours and I'll finish mine up once I buy more paint ^^
