Dragoness -WIP-
Trying out some brushes I stole'd from
damiem, who was nice enough to post them in his journal. ;__; *lost tons of her own brushes recently*
This is one of the few times I'll submit a WIP LOL.. I'm mostly doing it because I haven't submitted/finished anything recently nor will I have time to work on anything until Friday. I have a CG commission I want to finish up, and there's always the standard regular commissions to work on.
So... yeah. :D If you have any jewelry/bling suggestions, I'd love to hear it. XD Definitely gonna add much more, and maybe some stuff on the ground around her.

Thanks very much! Rings would be nice... :) I'll probably finish painting her body before I add any jewelry, so I might take up your advice on leaving it simple.
I was originally trying to go for a "dragon's hoard" kind of thing here, but we'll see if it stays that way. XD

I've heard tons of good things about Sai, actually... all my friends seem to use it.
PS does have some excellent default brushes, though (low opacity flow airbrush is what I use the most), and I'm abusing the crap out of the rake brush I downloaded from Damien's page, haha. XD

Haha... I would use it, but its' a pain in the butt to get my Windows machine up and running when my Mac is right in front of me. *lazy* XD Totally will someday, though! I need to see what all the rage is about.
Lol! PS can be difficult at first, but after awhile it's intuitive. (But that could be because I'm a design student and have to use the entire Adobe Suite... D: ) Maybe take a class in it to get the basics down? :D

I have, actually! :D Just can't post it here due to size constraints. Hopefully it helps a bit... it outlines my general painting set-up and all that good stuff.

Wow, from the thumbnail it doesn't even look like a work in progress! I'm really impressed with how detailed your works are. I'm so glad
Necrodrone13 pointed me to your page, because you're really talented!
I'm sorry to hear about the missing brushes, though. I hope you didn't lose anything irreplaceable. I'm really glad you used
Damiem's though-so far you've done a really great job with them!
Obviously the face is the most detailed part so far, and I think that really looks great. I like the detail on her eye especially. You do scales and horns very well and I think that really gives her a draconic appearance. Plus the little fangs and the forked tongue are a great touch!
Because you're not finished I won't comment on everything else, but I do think so far you're doing a good job of giving her a realistically slim figure. I am curious though: we can see the end of her tail come in from off-panel but it seems like it's coming out of nowhere; have you just not drawn in the rest of the tail yet?
I think it's really cool of you to ask for stuff like jewelry suggestions. It's always awesome to see an artist get other people involved in their work. Unfortunately I don't know much about jewelry myself, but I do strongly approve of the "Dragon's hoard" idea! I do think the golden color matches her scales well. Adding jewelry to the horns was a nice touch, and the earrings look good but depending on how much jewelry you plan on adding she could have more (her ears and the fins behind them are certainly big enough).
As far as extra jewelry goes, starting from the top: a tiara or headband would add a touch of nobility. A golden stud or ring in her tongue would contrast nicely with the black color. She has a long neck so chokers or necklaces could be appropriate. You could either go for one large piece or a number of smaller ones. She could also wear a band or chain on her upper arm and bracelets on her wrists.
Kipcha mentioned rings and that's a great idea since you can do any number of different kinds of them. From the work in progress I can't tell if she's going to have a belly button or not, but those are popular nowadays. Similar to the arms, you could do bands on the upper legs and ankle bracelets, plus any number of rings or the like on the tail.
Anyways, thanks a lot for sharing your work! I'm really impressed and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished version of this. Good luck with everything! ^^

Thank you very much! Most of the brushes I had lost I made myself or got from magazines, and luckily I managed to load on most of what I lost. I'm SO GLAD Damien had a rake brush because that's what was missing and what I love to use the most. ;___;
Haha... no, you're right. I need to add in the rest of her tail. XD I must have forgotten to add it back in, so thanks for reminding me!
(And thanks for all the jewelry refs/suggestions... those'll certainly come in handy~ <3)

It's looking amazing so far Centra! :D I like the jewelry on her horns and suggest one or two more pieces like that. I might suggest a tongue ring as well, and strongly suggest multiple thin necklaces. I've always felt that multiple looked better compared to larger single necklace, but that's certainly an aesthetic call of your own to make. Rings as well, maybe a few and a bracelet/armlet. Try and be asymmetrical with your jewelry placement. Asymmetry is more appealing than symmetry. :3
I really do like the like the lighting on the piece and I can't wait to see you progress further! Name her as well? :D

It certainly has~ :0
I've worked a bit more on it since this upload, but because of commissions and school I just haven't been able to finish it 100%. I can't exactly use it for my portfolio either, so it's down on my list... at least until I get a lot of my work done. ;)
