After creating Hazel, I quickly realized my blunder in dressing her in a common t-shirt and jean shorts: while they looked nice at the outset, it would be nearly impossible for Hazel to fly while wearing the outfit, as her gliding flaps would be unable to extend with the garments in the way.
But at the same time, I didn't like the idea of Hazel stripping off her clothes and flying over cities in the nude, so I created a special suit for her to wear while flying or fighting monsters.
After an hour or so, I fell upon the idea of giving the suit magnetic seams that would separate when Hazel extends her gliding flaps, but still hold themselves together so the suit wouldn't fall apart.
(To elaborate, although Hazel is a flying squirrel, her gliding flaps aren't visible 24/7, only when she makes an 'X' pose with her arms and legs. It may not be scientifically accurate, but I think it's an acceptable use of artistic license).
