This was something I constantly hated in my call center. Because we took calls for ISPs, if a major website like Facebook was down, people would call in. After explaining that we didn't run the website and it'd be up to Facebook to fix it, so we didn't have an ETA, the customer would be SO upset with us for not providing their internet service. The customer would then tell me that they were going to call the main office for a refund. Queue me sending their ticket up to the main office so they know NOT to give this customer any kind of compensation for their stupidity.

It's practically true for many and literally true for some - Facebook runs a "free basics" program where Internet charges are expensive, leading to people using Wikipedia to illicitly host copyrighted files (it's not illegal in Angola, but Wikipedia and its sister projects are located in the United States)
