On February 14th 2020 I realized that, for over 30 years, prejudice and irrational fear have controled my every action and influenced my every decision, preventing me from ever functioning like a normal human being.

I reject this abomination inside me, I am taking full control of my own personality.

I understand you. I understand the divorce was traumatic for my mother but that doesn't excuse the use of "You are so much like your biological father" as a pejorative.

It takes time and patience and, I hear, you don't ever really get to fully remove them. But recognizing the disease is vital to treat it.

As much as I respect Peterson's work, I don't really follow it much. Has he talked about this sort of stuff before?

Yeaaaah but he uses it to push transphobia and weird shenanigans like "cultural marxism is real and is why things are bad" (which is uh, something based on an old nazi conspiracy theory from the nazi regime outright). Justttt not great things.

Yeah. It's part of his self improvement advice. One of the things he talks about is integrating the dark parts of your personality.
