It's not dumb at all to have a goal and to be trying hard to achieve what you've set out to do. With all the comics you've done, I would think that, by every metric, you are a comic artist. But whatever criteria you feel you've yet to achieve, I'm sure you'll make it, Nai-chan! ^w^
Ive been resisting the main stream as long as i could. Juts trying to make sure that i learn to make the artistic vision the most important thing i work towards. I noticed a lot of artist who live for veiws end up with really bland impersonal work. Its not what im after.
Initially i was worried about popularity or success reshaping my ideas. It happeneda bit with me as a younger artist. But these days I can share my best works and be happy even if they dont connect with my general audience. If i can keep it level headed, i feel more comfortable aiming for more generic goals like 'views and subscibers'. *nod nod nod*

The mainstream is overrated; not saying this as a hipster, just that chasing trends is tremendously exhausting and even if succeed, how are you supposed to stand out? And how can anything new come about if everything is playing "follow the leader"?
Learning which parts or elements of your work is the most successful and finding yourself veereing in that direction isn't inherently bad, though it's probably for the best that you were aware of it happening. Whatever stories you write and share, you can safely count me among those "views" and I think your work will always find an audience to enjoy them; good work like yours, and created with passion, will always resonate best with people. *nod*

There was this sweet concept of poetic silence that's often used in context to music or dramatic readings and i love it. Its a bit in a composition that has nothing in it to provide relief to the observer. Ive since learned that comcis and stories can really benefit from that too. *nod nod* low detail BG and empty panels etc. Its good stuff.
