You shouldn't worry at all if that's the case. Eyes are arguably the most important facial feature of a face (because expression, emotion, or even the character/personality of a person can be derived just from the eyes alone). So, the more practice, the better.
Of course, once you get into drawing full figured characters (from head to toe) on a single piece of paper, the eyes will be scaled back a lot, which won't allow for much (noticeable) detail. So in those cases, you don't have to worry too much about detailing the eyes. However, if you are just drawing up-close shots of the head (as you did here) then the detail and shading definitely count.
